  • Sorry, I'm not really able to help anyone else's queries as I have a few of my own.My husband is just in the process of sorting out his DMP through CCCS (total debt 87k). We are due to make the first payment tomorrow. This week he's received several default notices - should he still call creditors to explain even though CCCS are now dealing with it? It seems wrong to just keep ignoring these letters however tempting that is!!

Will he also still end up with CCJs or will creditors not bother taking him to court as they can see that he is trying to sort out his finances?

Would really appreciate some advice - I'm so desperately worried about all of this and at 10 weeks pregnant could really do without all the stress and uncertainty.

Congrats on the pregnancy :p i can totally understand your concern i had this stress mainly from when my baby was 16weeks old who is now 9months old. Not nice to have this on your mind when you are supposed to be enjoying this time in life
Any way with out getting off the point you may or may not find your hubbie being served with a ccj. My partner had a ccj served on him with out a hearing at the courts ((from northern rock)) They don't always agree to the reduce repayments and serving the default notice is the start. You have a month i sure it says on the default until they decide what to do. You may find them selling the debt on or passing it to a debt collection agency.

I can't really give you any advice that will put your mind at ease unless it involved DEBT FREE !!! we have appealed against the ccj and have had our case transferred to our local court for a redetermination 'FINGERS CROSSED' but I'm trying to stay positive !!!

We have only been in my DMP for 6 months and i can honestly say i am at a more calmer point in dealing with my debts. A lot of letters the creditors may send are standard procedure and if you feel better for it give them a call. But be prepared for pressure to pay more and i don't think you really need that stress right now.
You or your hubbie just need to say you are paying what you can afford through CCCS if they have any problems to contact them (what i was advised).... they wont i bet you !!!
You can also tell them to not contact you on your personal number and to communicate via letter or through CCCS. That is exactly what we did and it worked for us :T

Hope you get some better advice soon and good luck with the pregnancy :o

  • Thanks for the advice Vicky - really appreciate it. Hope you have lots of luck with clearing your CCJ.

Hubby called one of his creditors this morning (Egg) and they were fine - just took his CCCS ref number and no real pressure to make a payment so fingers crossed. Just wish they'd realised that no one wants to be in this situation and if we could pay we would.
  • Morning all,

    Hope everyone is well today.

Welcome E&P - good luck with your DMP. I am in the same boat at the minute waiting for first payment to go out and be made. It hasn't been too bad but find the letters etc a little stressful. Something you def don't need right now! I am sure it will get easier and I have found that it is a huge relief just knowing I am doing something about it.

Anyhow, thought I would just pop on to say hi - our systems are down at the minute so making the most of some free time! xx

Hi all!! We are on a DMP through CCCS (great people!) and one of our creditors is the Royal Bank of Scotland who we have a (largish) loan with. We have Loanguard (insurance) on the loan but now that we are only paying a small amount what happens about this? I would assume that we would never be able to claim on this insurance if anything happened eg unemployment as we are not paying the full amount on the loan and insurance. Could we cancel the insurance to reduce the amount that we owe?

    Any help gratefully received :T

Also just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this site who has helped us getting our debt sorted out with the help of CCCS - it has been such a relief from my first post about telling my husband about all our debt to getting things organised with CCCS. Thank you all

The first thing Payplan told me was to cancel all my insurance - because, as you say, you are no longer able to claim (plus they are a complete rip off)

One creditor (shall remain nameless but has 4 letters starting with an M and ending with an A) kept taking it despite being told in writing not to, and then phoning to confirm they were stopping it. All others have stopped.

When I think of the amount I have paid in PPI for all my creditors - and I was looking at some insurance sites, that provide this kind of insurance and you can insure loans for about £1 a month, I could protect my income for 12 months for less than £50 a month. It makes me realise how stupid I have been - but I'll know for next time - if I ever get credit again lol

  • Hi everyone,

Still plodding along with the DMP coming up to 8months on the DMP.Still waiting for half the creditors to agree .Made a mistake with sending the ccj papers to the courts instead of to Nationwide,Doh. So was a bit panicked about it, Hubby rang them today and they are going to get the courts to fax it over to them. We are expecting to have to put in a redetermination in.

    Hi everyone,

Seems to me that if most creditors agree this arrangement is usually set for for 6 months only . After that they start to hassle you with topping up payments. After reading a lot from this site and others, it seems if they deem the top-up to not be enough will issue ccj's, will then say, didn't keep up with arrangements (which according to some is a lie, as payments are kept up) then go for charging order. This is what I don't understand, why go for CO if you'll not be forced to sell your property?

In my case, I have no intention of moving from my home (too bloody expensive to do for one!), also have youngest starting secondary next year and we are in an excellent catchment area for a certain school that people are crying out to get their child/children into.

My DFW will be done in 6 years hopefully or sooner if I start following some of the excellent advice I read on here!! and more importantly I'll willing and able to pay off my debt, I spent it and want to repay it back, so please those creditors cut us some slack. OK, we will take a little longer to repay what we borrowed/spend but WE ARE DOING IT. Rant over!

    your welcome
Fingers and toes crossed that the judge is nice to my partner and tells northern rock to bog off. There the main ones and first plus who are hounding him, as for egg we haven't had any problems with them either. They actually recommend CCCS which is a good sign ;)

I'm glad they were OK with your hubbie on the phone as not all of them are unfortunately, some do forget the rules and regs of customer care.

How bizarre is that, that same company keeps taking my insurance out too, i cancelled it 3 years ago!!!!!!!!!! They have taken it twice this year and refunded it twice already, this month bingo on goes another £70. It has taken the card back over limit and bingo there is an overlimit fee on. Is someone having a laugh at our expense??? I have advised MBNA to only contact me by letter now so I suppose the right thing to do would be to write back, maybe I should add it as an addendum to my complaint to them, to which a reply is due in less than a week.......

  • Hello, and Happy Friday to all you DMPers.

I have just recieved a loan agreement to sign, from my bank HSBC. My mortgage is with them.

It seems they are willing to accept my offer (Made by CCCS I guess) of £31.50 per month, if I take out this managed loan. What should I do? It is over 70 months and has a whopping 600+ interest attached.

Can anyone tell me what I should do?

I don't want to pay more interest. Is there any way not to?

Grateful for any help you may be able to offer.

    Thanks in advance
    Sam
