  • bowz25,

Your feelings ring a large bell with me. My car is in for brakes to be done today which will cost 200 or more I guess. However, think of all the positives. We have cars, for example. I am not having to juggle balances and payments as one payment is going to Payplan to cover it all and very few banks are charging me interest now. So less stress there too. I am trying to build up some cash as are all of us if we can.

Take one day at a time for now and it will get better even if that is only because we will get used to this situation. Also, remember that virtually everyone has some sort of debt, eg mortgage, cr. cards, loans. So do not feel inferior. There are many people who do far worse things in life than get into debt. Getting into debt does not imply anything bad about you. You may have made misjudgements or been unlucky or hit by events outside your control. So who hasn't made mistakes in their lives. I have and I try to learn from them. So we can learn from this situation and end up better people as a result. We'll be stronger ourselves and hopefully more understanding when we find others in similar situations.

Have a very good day and let me see a big smile on your face when you have read this :)

Hi all! Just thought I would let you know that I have just posted off our DMP agreement to CCCS and posted the DMP notification letters to all our creditors so hopefully our DMP will start in October. It is such a relief to now have done something about our debts but I am a wee bit anxious about what will happen next  !! I hope the phone calls will stop - not that I have been answering them as caller display lets me see that they are not from people I know but they have been persistant to say the least!!

Now we will just have to watch what we are doing with our money so will have to post our SOA to see if you lot can help reduce our outgoings :T

Will keep you posted re our DMP as getting support from this website is vital to keeping me sane!!

  • Hi Weemac

Sounds like we are at the same stage! I posted my agreement and DMP notification today. No phonecalls so far as we have managed to make all our payments but that will all stop at the end of the month so I'm bracing for myself for a barage of creditors calling! I agree that its a little terrifying too! Best of luck and I'll keep an eye out for your updates!

    hi
thanks for the support Dr Jekyll and weezypoos and everyone else who had given advice to me since starting dmp in June.

To those just starting with dmp the calls are quite persistant at first, i found it best to answer them in the end and then sometimes they put a 2 week review on your account and the calls stopped for about 2 weeks. It is not easy but it does get better with the calls/letters. Just quote your cccs ref number and tell them you are undertaking dmp with cccs.
We found Lloyds the worst for calling sometimes 6-7 times a day and even calling us both at work. I asked them to remove my work number from records. I can say that now after 3.5 months i do not receive any calls now or many letters.
Out of 15 creditors (lloyds being 5 of them about 7-8 have accepted so far.)

good luck to all the start of your plan, and there is always someone to answer questions for you on here.
    take care
    bye for now.
  • Hi Bowz25,

I currently don't have any fall back cash, before I went on Maternity Leave I put all the money for extras in the budget away in a separate account but that is on hold until January when I go back to work (Boo). My car tax and DH's bike tax is due this month totalling £150.

DH is working all the hours he can so we can cover it, he does resent it though as it means he doesn't get to spend much time with our DD.

I'm fine thanks had one of those "low" weeks when you keep your head down and hide, hubby had a week off from work and he wanted to go places so I had to be big and bad and say no!

Then we had freebie tickets for Donnington on Sunday but spent 3 hours parked on the M1 - anyone ever seen several people weeing on the M1 - kids were devastated when we told them had to turn back it was just silly waiting like that.

Sorry I have gone into waffle mode now - I am sure last time I was around you were decorating!
  • :rotfl: ahhh, ym ,you are such a child at heart:rotfl: :rotfl: very nice smiles, those...and they do cheer you up when you see them.
can i just say what good posts lately re advice for the new posters:hello: .the interest will stop eventually but if it goes on too long, they have some really good template letters on the nationaldebtline website, which say that all your others have stopped the interest and so that your dmp payments decrease your debt, you invite them either to stop the interest or take you to court, so at least then the interest will be stopped and you will be able to clear your debts(yes, i know that sounds scary but it usually does the trick, cos the creditors know you are serious and if it goes to court, the judge usually keeps your payment the same,so the creditors have no room for payment increases in later years, cos a ccj payment stays the same) .re the extra, id keep it to one side incase of emergences, or later you can ask for a full and final (f+f)balance from one of your debts, which means they accept a lower one off payment from you to clear the debt, and its recorded on your credit file as paid in full.
excuse the essay as i like to waffle, as dh will certify:D
am going now to mow the lawn and wait for my sweet natured ds to come from skool, hopefully leaving his attitude there,.....parents of adolescent kids will know exactly what i mean!!!
i bid you all a good day.
    love ilgd xx
