Exactly. Whilst not wishing to be unsympathetic, can people not even do some basic research QUOTE] - posted by Tozer.

Sorry, i was only trying to get some advice from this site! Sorry to bother you all!
  • hi all, ive had a read most of the posts but didnt find what i was looking for.
    can anyone help please?

i made a claim last year & was given a goodwill gesture of about 70% of what i was owed.
since then it seems they have been trying to get their money back from me. missed payments, on dd i cancelled, charges of going overdrawn when i didnt have an overdraft( on one accounnt). letting me go over my overdraft & charging me( yet they never used to let me go over this , it would just say i didnt have the funds.
all together in the past 3/4 months ive been charged between 900 & £1500.

can i make another claim for these charges even though i received that goodwill gesture last year.

If I shot off your foot & you prosecuted me for it, then came out of prison & shot off your other foor & said " you can't do anything about it, You already prosecuted me for shooting off your foot". Would you accept it?
    Same principle ;)
  • Can I ask someone's advice please? Would it be possible to reclaim bank charges on the account of a deceased family member? My Aunt suffered with dementia towards the end of her life and became increasingly confused in her financial affairs. She incurred huge bank charges before my father stepped in to help. We have all her bank statements.
  • Hi,
Am re-posting my message, can anybody advise if my claim would be affected if I changed my back account to another bank (am asuming no from what I can find on the web but would like to reassurance)?
    Thanks!!!!
  • I placed my claim for bank charges totalling approx £2000 in July and have been given the standard "on hold until court" answer but since then I have managed to encur another £645 of charges. Does anyone know if I can add this to my previous claim while we are waiting on the court's decision or if I have gifted this money to the bank - gone forever? My bank is with the Halifax and they show no mercy.

Not the same principles at all. One is criminal law which is an imposed legal duty and one is civil (contract) law by which obligations are voluntarily incurred. If something was accepted as full and final settlement, then it is perfectly possible to contract out of your rights.
  • Hello,

I'm hoping someone can advise me on what steps i should now be taking when reclaiming my bank charges.

Before the turn of the year around september ish i informed my bank using the template provided on this site. I recieved a letter from the bank saying it had noted my demand for a return of my bank charges, but said that it will be taking no action until the test case which is currently runnin.

Can anyone give me advise as to what i should be doing next. My charges were well over 1500 and mostly from when i was a student and on low wages. So i believe i should get these back!
