Since asking the bank to pay my charges back to me they have been playing games with me, my card ran out at the end of June, I have had 2 new cards, both have been kept by the machine. I have applied for my 3rd new card, the postal strikes are holding this one up!!!. Is this a common practice when asking for charges back. They have made me more determined to reclaim them. I am now about to threaten court action.

You may care to name and shame that bank on this forum.

If you think they are doing this on purpose, issue a complaint to the Omsbudman. You will probably find that the 3rd card is eaten up as well.

It is a great shame that these banks have stooped so low and no longer operate in a professional manner as dictated by the Bank of England.

The day is getting so close for these banks which will rip their credibility into tiny pieces.

WHO WILL BE THE FIRST BANK ???

It's obvious that ALL the banks read these forums every day. One of them, very soon now will be exposed and the media will ensure they lose customers in an unprecedented level.

Keep on threatening them because you are RIGHT and they are WRONG

hi there. could you tell me how long it took to get your charges refunded through the financial ombudsman? i'm unsure whether to got to them or the courts. my account is with lloyds too and they have offered me £750 goodwill gesture (which i have taken without prejudice) but they flatly refuse to pay me any more! they owe me almost £1700 + interest.

Is it a normal thing for them to hold out for so long? My partner claimed over £3000 from HSBC and the whole process finished with HSBC paying up full in 6 weeks. And here I am claiming around £1500 and nothing happened for 8 months.
There's one thing that made me think:

I claimed both charges AND account fees (the 7 quid that they keep on charging me for account maintanence) so is it possible that they're holding out because of that? The account fees are around £300 of the total so surely they don't wanna risk going to court and being questioned over £300? Wouldn't they have settled by now?

Really confused and thoroughly annoyed as it is taking sooo long.

    Any advice, please?

    Thanks,

Well, it's definitely too late to change anything now, besides it wouldn't get to the court on time for Friday. I still think that as they charged my account with these unlawful charges in excess of £1200 they would not want to appear before court and answer any questions about why they levied these charges on my account. I'd still presume that they'd settle beforehand with deducting the account fees.

Could somebody still help me? Is my case going to be thrown out because I added account fees as well as charges?

    i need some advice!
i am claiming just under £1700 from LloydsTSB + interest.
they offered me £750 as a goodwill gesture (eventually after i kept the pressure on them with letters).
i accepted this without prejudice, but persisted with my claim.
today i have received a letter from them stating that they won't refund me any more money.
i don't know whether to go to the courts or the financial ombudsman now!
does anyone have any advice? and does anyone have any idea of timescales? i have spoken to a really nice lady at the FO and she says its around 6 months or just over with them.
    any advice welcome!
    thanks!

    HELP PLEASE

Hi, I need some more advice. I sent my letter to Halifax on the 26 june threatening court action and without prejudice amount. Had no reply so called on 12 july stating no reply so would indeeed now take court action. The man at the halifax said to me that I should look into going to the FO.
I called the halifax back today to tell them that I am now starting court proceedings!
The lady on the phone put me on hold..... (this is where i am confused)
When she came back she said she had told customer relations and also put a note on my case that I was unhappy to wait the EIGHT weeks and would start court proceeding imediately.
What does she mean by 8 weeks. I thought they had 14 days to reply???
Have I now complicated my case and made things worse. I really dont understand what I am doing! I had to wait over 70days for my statements when I first started this claim!!!

    Please can anyone help me.
    Amanda
