Hi have entered a MCOL and Barclays Bank have until 21st July to reply, however I now believe that they can still enter a defence up to midnight on Monday 23rd July as the 21st July is a w/e can anyone confirm this?
Secondly I have read that if Barclays make a defence to my claim which they are likely to do, some people have phoned and have settled through a phone call, can anyone advise me on when and if Ireceive a defence what do Isay when i phone them up.
Thirdly I have also phoned Barclays and asked for a breakdown and calculation of their charges and was told that they basiclly randomly chose a figure to charge and that they do not have a breakdown of the charge, I was told that the breakdown was on my statements when I was charged for each item going over my overdraught which I told them I fully understood however I wanted a breakdown of each individual £30.00 charge and was told that they don't have that and don't do it and why was I asking!!!! I have the times and dates of who I spoke to could this be used in my defence if I was to go to Court !!!!
I am claiming £1800.00 and Barclays offered me £250.00 which I though was a joke !!!!:mad:0 -

hi, does anyone know if the same applies to loans as well, for missed/late or bounced direct debits etc. i've read that it does for mortgages so i've just sent off a claim for £763 to haliax, 2 days after they agreed to pay £2,255 on my old current account - they're going to hate me but I don't care. Really appreciate any info about the loans. thanks0

hi ,is going through the financial ombudsman a far lengthier process than going through the courts???? thanks
i've just gone through the FO. although i believe i can take longer than the court route it was easier. i only sent first letter to halifax asking for £2,255 as soon as I received a reply from halifax beginning of june saying they were declining my complaint I sent off the complaints form to FO. then on sat about 5wks after sent in form I received a letter from them saying that Halifax were offering full amount. i suppose you need to do to whats best for your situation. I cleared all my debts earlier this year so I was not in a great rush to receive the money and I didn't want the hassle and stress of the thought of going to court. so this way suited me best and i would use them again. hope this helps you in some way. good luck0 -
URGENT HELP NEEDED
Claimin from TSB but am unsure exactley what I can claim for? Can I claim for overdraft usage fee, overdraft interest fee's, unpaid DD charges and account charges?
Any help welcome, thanks!!0 -
Hi,
I have received an offer from HSBC to refund £1627.54 of my bank charges. Obviously this is great news but the bank want to credit my HSBC account with the money. To be honest that would be a penny in an ocean of debt with HSBC. It would be better for me to have the money put in my new - and correctly managed - account so that I could distribute it to some more pressing creditors. I could actually clear off 3 other debts with the money.
Anyway - long story short. Does the money have to be credited to the HSBC account or can I request it to be sent elsewhere?
Thanks for your help.0 -
Hi - could someone please confirm if (through the Court) I can charge the interest debited from my account as well as all the charges - or if it is just the charges that I can claim for? Thanks0

Hi, I've Got Another Question For You. When Sending A Cheque To Get A List Of All Your Bank Charges Do You Have To Send A Cheque Per Account Or One Per Bank. I've Got 2 Accounts With Same Bank But Obviously Dont Want To Give Them More Money Than I Have To. I Know Its Only A Tenner But Its Better In My Pocket Than Theirs. Thanks0

Leachio I believe you can claim for any charges. Charges are legally allowed where they are proportionate to the cost incurred by the bank. I.E. as I understand if, if all charges were only a few £ here and there we wouldn't be able to reclaim them. It puzzles me that the banks haven't defended against the settlements for the 'full amount' in this way, but I guess the admission of liability would be more damaging for them. So, claim for it all. The worst that can happen is they offer to settle for a little less. Then it's up to you what you accept.
Trouble, why don't you ask them? Perhaps you could ask for the money in the form of a Cheque instead? I imagine it's your money to do with as you wish. But...do try and get out of debt!
Shetel, The banks will award you 8% interest on top of the charges. That is both for the interest on the overdraft, and the loss of interest you would have from not having the money on your account. It's all in the article.
Debs, when I requested my bank charges I did it in branch and didn't even have to send a cheque. That maybe because I'm in scotland - you could always take a trip up to a scottish branch of the bank and data protection laws say you can have that info for free. I'd try in branch - and ask them.0
