    This is a continuation of
original bank charges discussion thread. (This hasn't been restarted because of a new article - the old one got to long)
This thread is specifically to discuss the content of the new updated article

To discuss or ask a question about this article: click reply

Please note if you want to discuss 'the rights and wrongs of reclaiming charges' this isn't the place - this is a practical thread instead do it here
do the bank really have the right to charge me,when i have a debit card account , all my transactions are authorised by the bank at the time of making them, but the system hasn,t deducted half the money i,ve spent ,from funds available , and i in turn then go overdrawn? or i have insufficient funds they reject a payment .what are they charging me for?

I was nervous and didnt know what to do. But now with your advice im a lot calmer..:j i wouldnt know what i would have done if not for this site and all the support and advice.. we can beat the banks for terrorising us with sleepless nights in the last 6 years. there were times i just couldnt sleep not knowing what the bank had decided to charge me for going overdrawn and when i could ever pay it back..i did tell them back then the charges are illegal, but they just said blah blah blah... but today the banks aren't even coming to court.. i really want my bank in court cos then i can tell them how wrong they have been:D .. thanks once again. i will need advice when i get the court date. will keep you updated.:T

Hi, Can you tell me what procedure you followed and what you did to prepare for the court. It looks like I will be taking the same route with Lloyds tsb?

    Thanks
  • Just to say thanks to Martin.

I put in a claim against Lloyds Bank for my son.
We claimed £789 - and got the FULL amount!!!!!

    THANK YOU

Hi. Just recieved a letter from Alliance and Leicester this morning offering me £1633 inc £120 of the court cost.My total claim was £2895, -(£1262)- short.I was realy nervous before thinking that I had no chance of any money and that I was in the wrong. But this letter has shown that you were right they are in the wrong. They have even offered to drop my charges to £12 for a bounced DD.They have sent me a prepaid envelope and letter to accept their offer, which I do not. What do I do to refuse this offer.Do nothing or write back to them. They also said that some banks had closed the accounts of people whoe had refused offers but they would not.I beleive it was A&L who did this first of all. Many thanks for your help on these matters,I will send the refusal now and then sit and sweat.

All you have to do is write back to them stating that you accept the payment as part payment to your claim without prejudice and you will be persuing the claim via the court for the rest of the money owed to you :D

    Good luck with your claim

Hi Kez l have just recieved a letter from Lloyds solicitors today making me an offer to settle my claim !!!! Can only think l have a court date set and they know about it before me , its also £175.00 short of what l could expect back but am writing back to them accepting the offer but being cautious and not celebrating until l have the cheque.
Am phoning them on monday to see if they will settle my second claim without me having to go through this farce again.
