    Hi GEOL2,

Just a quick one - How long did it take you from contacting the Ombudsman, to getting your offer? It is just that I am claiming a fairly large amount (£5300) and am considering using them.

    Thanks

    N£m£sis.

    Hi

Have had trouble with alliance & leicester since last week when they took out over £160.00 in bank charges without warning me of the charges. Phoned them up and they said they would reimburse one payment of £34.00, which they did (how generous of them - me thinks not).

My husbands wages went in on Friday and have just checked online and a direct debit was paid on Friday but apparently it went out before my hubbys wages went in which made me over drawn for a while (minutes, hours I don't know) but this made us overdrawn so I will probably be charged again for going over our overdraft.

The banks are getting crafty and would def NOT recommend A & L

  • Hi all
First of all I would like to thank the Moneysaving Expert web, for their advice and guidance.

I started my process in April 15 - 2007. I was claiming 340 from Barclaycard, I won 340 within 6 weeks with out the sending second letter.
Last week Monday 02/07/07, I sent out my second letter to Barclays, asking £2750 with the interest, on Friday 07/07/07 I got offer of £16025. which I accepted :T .

    Thanks to you MoneySavingExepert

Crystal, It's about time you got very tough with A&L

Your task is to request by return a complete breakdown of how they calculate the charges. Tell them that you will not accept charges being applied to your account if they are unable to explain them to your satisfaction. Request the charges are refunded immediately otherwise you will deem such charges as unlawful

With regards to A&L, I think throughout these forums, the way they act is enough to put anyone off them for life

  • Can anyone advise got my statements from Barclays Data Protection and now going to send my second letter making my claim stating all the charges I wish to be refunded. On the template for the letter it says the bank name and address, is this still Barclays Data Protection address or is it the branch address?

    Cheers if anyone can advise.
