They have had a downturn in sales apparently and have said it's a case of getting "bums on seats." The plane would be flying anyway-now its more likely to be full.
They are hoping to recoup some costs in food sales on the plane and with people taking their insurance etc.

    Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

Thanks so much, everyone for this thread.

I've ended up booking totally different destinations than I had planned earlier this week, but I've spent £20 on three flights (one of which is a birthday present for someone). £10 of that was so she could take a case and I also slipped up and ended up paying extra for a Friday return.

Phew, just got the email through with official confirmation for flight to brussels, made sure i wrote it down in case comp crashed again and printed it off. Still not received any email regarding flights to London tho from Glasgow and they were booked yesterday, but have confirmation number for those flights so should be ok.

Thanks to everyone who offered advice. Brussels here we come.

Next time, when you get to the confirmation page, click 'File' in the top left hand corner of your screen and then 'save as'. That way you won't lose the opportunity to print the document in the case of a minor computer 'crash'.

Booked a couple of flights so far 4p!!!!!!! Fantastic!
  • I've heard of lots of people booking 0.01 all over the place, with many saying that they will probably not turn up as the chances are that they or their patterns (etc) will not be able to make it.

Imagine the scenario whereby the promotion will backfire on Ryanair as the flights are so cheap that the've encouraged irresponsible bookings, resulting in even fewer bums on seats, and therefore less associated spending (on-board food, transport, hotels, etc)

    Just a thought...
