Hi sml save glad you are all well , MIL advice eh ? its always just what's need after giving birth and suffering from a lack of sleep :rotfl: my dh was completely toilet trained at 9 mths apparently! That was my favourite oneMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Hi Sml Save
Oooh warm snuggly bundle of hiccups, scrummyMy DD was a real hiccupper, wonder if it's a girl thing? Glad you are enjoying her.
My stitches were one of the worst bits with my experience with DS. To be fair the midwife passed me the entonox before she started and said, and I quote: "ave a few bangs on that love this is gonna hurt" in a broad Lancashire accent - it was quite a Peter Kay moment :rotfl:
I concur with Alchemilla & newgirly, MIL's are created solely to provide outdated and blatantly fantasorial adviceI've had the one about potty training by 6 months, it's amazing how so many 1950s-1970s babies could manage that before they could even properly sit up
Good luck with your MFW dreams. It's hard when you have a young family and sometimes I think you just have to coast it for a bit. Before you know it you'll have them up chimneys then all your worries will be over
Look forward to reading your diary xxLife is changing...but I'm still Money Saving!0 -
Congratulations SML...I haven't been able to catch up on diaries of late so have just found out about your little arrival. Ignore MIL - I'm lucky that mine lives far far away though it does mean that visits are 2 months long - though fortunately 2 years apart.
Just a thought on the early potty training though - my niece and nephew were both potty trained by my mum by the age of 1 - I know because I saw her do it. BUT that kind of potty training involves the mum holding baby over the toilet every few hours practically from the day they are born so more mum training than child training really. But it is true that my 1 year old niece once cried for two hours because my sister had put her in a nappy because they were going somewhere where toilets weren't available. She cried for two hours but would NOT go in her nappy.Mortgage (original/ current):193,000 (23/09/11)/ £102,500 (07/11/2019)

How funny of you to say about potty training mouche, we were also talking about that style of training. I know it as elimination communication - not that I'm consistent enough to do it myself! MIL was saying that her SIL was doing it with her grandchild although the mum didn't approve...her SIL is stubborn and not respectful apparently. This is not at all similar to dear old MIL who spoon feed DS mush when I made it clear that we were doing blw....oh how I had to bite my tongue
Any way, I'm chuffed with myself as I put down a lawn yesterday£70 for the turf and hard work levelling the ground but now it looks lovely. And the rain has come to save my water bill from getting too high
I've decided that I don't want to put any more weight on. Having babies is an effective way for me to lose weight but I'm happy with DS and DD - no more for me!I weighed myself yesterday at 10.5 and then ate my whole chocolate egg last night. DS has so much chocolate that I'll 'help' him eat them and weigh myself again Tuesday to see how much I need to lose - easy to say but hard to do! If after a couple of weeks it's not working then I'll join slimming world but it would be nice not to need to.

I've never managed to loose weight successfully through slimming classes and keep it off. I don't think it teaches you sensible ways to think about food, eg SW says you can eat as much as you like of "free" foods, this had me eating way too much pasta, so much for portion control.
I now use MyFitnessPal and have changed the way I think about food. I've lost 3 stones and i's changed the way think about food, it also has allowed me to consider what exercise I do and the impact this has on my calories.
Good luck.0 -
Another vote for MFP and eating too much pasta on SW!!0

Thanks for the tip welshlassie and alchemical, I'll give MFP a try
my friend has lost 3 stone on SW so it can work, but I do think that portion sizes are my biggest problem overall!
DD is currently fast asleep on me but every time I put her down she wakes up with wind and I was hoping for a napshe was very pretty today with a new dress on, well it was new to me. Like DS we haven't had to buy any clothes as everyone knows I'm happy to accept donations - we are so lucky. Now we just have to start using the cloth nappies and she'll be a real mse baby.
Still haven't chatted to dh about oping the mortgage with some savings or posted the child benefit form....really must do!Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Hi smlsave, sounds like you and your snuggly little one are getting on great. I do miss those newborn snuggles, I have to get mine from friends babies now
Another one also recommending MFP, since I stopped bothering with weight loss clubs I've pretty much maintained my weight, I have put on a few lbs recently but I know if I start counting my calories again it will come off.
Enjoy the choccie eggs first

I should really get out of bed......
DD is still asleep on me and thanks to this tablet the worlds art my finger tips, but I do have a friend coming to pick me up at 1 so I really should get a shower!
But I can write a quick post first though...
I'm pleased to say that I'm getting through the food in the cupboard and freezer. The grocery bill is still closer to £70 a week but we certainly aren't wasting anything. It's chicken noodle soup for dinner tonight and cheese and onion pie tomorrow.
The child benefit firm will be posted today and I have 2 baby freebies to pick up. After doing a telephone survey I also have a £20 voucher on vertbaudet to use - it only took me 5 hours yesterday to comply with all the t&'s but I've found a sun hat, shorts and uv suit that I'm happy with.
DD smiled at DH for the first time yesterdayIt's amazing how much she's growing! I should really get shares in Starbucks as I'm there every week now, DS and I enjoyed lunch there yesterday while DD slept and then he played at the park while I fed DD next to a friendly mum. DS then fell off a slide so I ended up with a child on each leg, one feeding and the other crying!
Promise I will get up now.....Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck
