    Morning everyone

Feeling rubbish this morning I am feeling sick and didnt sleep well at all since the start of root treatment the other day had a lot of pain. None before he started it. After messing around in my mouth for over an hour he said he will try again at next appointment but couldnt get into whatever it was he was trying to do so might need to extract it anyway.

I am going to phone at 9 and see if he will take me today and just get it extracted, can't stand another night of the pain!!

I have looked into finances etc

Mortgage Overpayments- I can pay back 10% per year but apparently ir runs Jan-Jan so I have 8 months to come up with £4500.

£562.50 per month- that's a tall order and I think I will probably struggle to meet it but I will give it my best shot.

I booked flights yesterday and still have other flights etc to book for my holiday so OH and I going to sit down later and make a decision on our route so I can get this done then we will know how much that is going to cost and I will be able to get a clearer picture of where we are at.

Going to phone my lawyer later too to find out how much her fees etc are as I will have to pay that in May too.

Off to get ready have a good day everyone :)

    :) Hi everyone

thanks for the welcome new girly

Well ended up getting tooth extracted, cheaper than the root treatment I suppose!

    On the money front
    • Set up DD's for halifax reward account maybe a bit late I was going to close them but thought that could be an extra £10 per month towards the mortgage. I have used a magazine subscription DD that only comes off every 6 months hope they will accept that.
    • Went the grocery shopping to Mr T and used a £5 money off coupon, si I think I will save that £5 towards overpayment
    • Jiggled accounts around payday for me on Monday so have moved a little over to savings
keep up the overpayments everyone you are all an inspiration and help to give me new ideas.

Wages have gone in today, payday is Monday so have moved money over for bills and savings.

Lawyer phoned yesterday and it looks like mortgage might go through on the 30th of April like I had originally requested she will confirm next week. Hope so, that means one week less of paying the mortgage.

I have money left so I think I am going to pay for visas for holiday this week, need to send passports away said it takes about 5 days so I think it's better to do that this week as DS will need his back for a trip to Barcelona in May.

I've also decided on route so I've emailed and got prices for what I want to do. Now I know what the costs will be I can work out what I will have left to put towards overpayment.

    I've had a NSD today!!!!
  • Well done on the NSD & hope all goes well with the passports and mortgage.

    Hi everyone :)

Well, I've had news from my lawyer completion date definitely been moved to 30th April can't wait to get started and make my first overpayment.

Still no word from her on what her fees are going to be, she said she will let me know next week.

It's DD2's birthday on Monday so have all her friends coming tonight for a sleepover, face masks at the ready and all sorts of goodies. Spent a small fortune but it's only once a year.

On the mortgage front- had an email from music magpie they have received my goods so when that clears I will move that over towards my first overpayment.

Need to go and balance the books been an expensive few days!!

Forgot to say used a £9 off a £60 spens at Mr T last night when I was getting goodies for tonight and Monday when the family comes so I think I should move that £9 over as well.

I will tally up what I have been moving over still nowhere near target as I have to make a minimum op of £500.

can anyone help my mortgage is with Santander what happens when I op do i phone them and just say I want to make an overpayment? I don't want it to change my monthly payment.

    Thanks
  • Hi Ixia

When I make my overpayments with Santander I go into branch as there is one near where I work so it's convenient. Have never done it over the phone so can't help specifically with that but however you do it you need to tell them to reduce the term and not the monthly payment. Their default is to reduce the monthly payment. You will then get two letters about a week after you have made the payment, one confirming they have received the overpayment and the other confirming the change to the term.

I have had a couple of occasions where they didn't process it as requested and the letter came through confirming a reduction in monthly payment - annoying! I called the number on the letter and they amended it for me with no probs though. To be fair I haven't had this happen in ages and think it might have been to do with staff not fully knowing the process as it wasn't long after they took over Bradford and Bingley and it was a former B&B branch. Since I've been using a different branch i've not had any problems.

    Hope this helps.

Always Thinking- thanks for the info the nearest santander to me is about 5 miles away but I will just go there when I am going to make my first overpayment sounds easier and then I can tell the cashier to reduce the term and not the payment.

Good to hear someone elses experience very helpful what with me being a newbie :)

    Thanks a lot!!!
  • No problem! Glad to be of help, I know it can be a bit of a minefield when you not sure what the form is. Happy overpaying! :)
