I need a loan of £5,000
Options
Is there any way anyone knows in which I can get hold of £5,000 over the next two weeks? I just can't think of anything.
I'm sorry to concede, I'm currently unemployed. I'm in a bit of a mess as this moment and I'm at my wits' end with personal stuff.
Bank is out of the question as I already have a loan taken out with them (small but I'm slightly behind with payments even - unforeseen problems, unfortunately). I have nothing of any real worth that I can sell. Basically, I wouldn't give me a loan either, but I'm in a really desperate situation in my personal life. I'm at a point where, even if I have to eventually pay back as much as £15,000-£20,000 in interest, I honestly don't care... I just need £5,000 quickly.
Sorry to be so vague - this is my first post and I found here through Google. Is there anything I can do?

I don't like your chances because your unemployed and your JSA if you get it only goes so far.
Can I ask how you repay the other loan plus your existing 1 ?
Maybe ask family ? This can open a whole new can of worms.0 -

So to sum up - You are unemployed and have a current loan that you are behind on payments on and you expect someone to lend you more money that you appear to have no means of paying back. You have no chance.
What do you need £5,000 for so desperately?0 -

I have to admit, I'm with this one.
What is the urgency for the loan here?

Thanks for replies. You've all said what I was expecting but hoping you wouldn't.
GB summed it up well - makes my post sound stupid huh? Well I said I was desperate. Yes, I currently have a small loan outstanding (a few hundred max) but I've even dropped behind on that.
To answer DCFC - I'm not sure how I intend to get out of this hole but I suppose I will find out when they start sending letters and calling.
When I applied for the loan (only £1,000) I said I was self-employed and I was accepted. Since then, well, in short, I've made a mess of things and now I'm unemployed.
I don't claim JSA. I may have to do that, though. There are a couple of family members I could ask but it's a very long shot and I'm reluctant to do that.
I signed up here because I'm light on the details of loans in general and hoped there might be something reasonable, or some useful advice. The reason why I need the money is personal (sorry) but completely legitimate etc. So it would appear a loan shark would be my only option? I'm not stupid enough to go down that path but is that about the size of it?
Thanks.0 -
Is someone going to die or get badly beaten up if you can't get this money? Is it blackmail? I can't think of anything that could make you so desperate and not be able to disclose (when you're completely anonymous on here anyway) that would make you even consider that a loan shark is the only option.
If you're genuine, and you need some advice, telling us the reason you need all this money may lead to some helpful advice. If you will the end, you must will the means.0 -
Have you applied for any jobs?
Apply for some.
Apply for some more.
You already know there is zero chance of finding any company daft enough to lend you money.
It's difficult to find sympathy when you say you are happy to pay £20k interest (which you obviously wouldn't pay back anyway) but are too proud to ask for help from family.
Stop acting gangsta, get applying for any job you can find which pays a wage and get the begging bowl out with your family0 -
Your suspicions are correct, there's no way you'll get £5K from a loan company.
Friends/family might, but even that sounds a stretch if they know that you're not working.
Are you renting your home or do you own? Are you managing to keep up with your bills and council tax?

Nearly there, just the 0% credit card to go!0 -
id be speaking to your bank re the current loan, not had a loan myself but would the bank maybe reduce the payments ?
Also get apying for jsa and any job.
so were you actually self employed then ?0 -

Even this is not an option because loan sharks do not just serve up £5000 on a plate to those who have no income, no assets(?) and a very stressed credit report.
Yes they take risks on dodgy characters in return for sky-high interest, but in order to minimise their exposure they lend small amounts, really small amounts to first time borrowers. If you can manage to get a couple of £300-500 loans from the main payday lenders without them being alarmed by CRA searches from other payday lenders, you will be very hard pressed to get £250 off the next band of sharks, and then £100 off the next band, and the further down you go the higher the interest and the more lawless the outfit that is chasing you. So, for about a grand you can get your credit file trashed and your knee caps altered. Not worth it!
To get £5000 the only option is to borrow it from someone who knows you are good for it. The problem, it would seem, is everyone including yourself knows you are not good for it.:(0 -
OP,
I'm with the others here, you've got no chance of getting a loan.
We don't know what you want the loan for, because you say, it's personal OK fine.
A few months (years) ago we had a poster on this board, and some may remember this, who wanted a loan for a leg stretching operation so that would increase their modelling prospects and thus get more money, thus justifying the loan!
Can it be any more embarrasing than that?Space available for rent0
