damn it - i was hoping all would be revealed in the end.
i will stick with my own theory: internet affair and this "lady" needs £5k to pay off her husband before he will let her leave to be with OP

I'm not a waster. I have been relatively successfully self-employed for over 5 years.I pay no taxes. I won't appear on government records over the last 5 years or so. I have only myself to look after and that's it (or was the case until recently).
I don't have an opinion on your situation but I did enjoy the conflict here. You're relatively successful but have paid no tax, can't afford to re-pay a £1000 loan and live with your parents for free.0 -
first of all get Employed and enjoy the benifits of job its will support you to get loan0

I doubt [STRIKE]he[/STRIKE] she ever went anywhere near an airport.
Probably still sitting in the cyber cafe communicating with other [STRIKE]victims[/STRIKE] boyfriends.0 -
Maybe, amongst all the speculation here, there is a story that I came across some years ago. A friend of mine was entangled with a woman with a wife-abusing husband. The friend had always spent what he made, dressed well, smart car, stayed single, good looking, women fell for him in droves.
The one he eventually fell for - and he did fall, head over heels - needed to get away from her abusive husband. No children involved. So he set out to borrow from friends and family, including me. I smelled something wrong and told him to contact Social Services, Police, maybe a Womens' Refuge organisation. Eventually he manged to get enough to give her money to get away, supposedly to a "friend" of hers in another county, miles away. Gave him a phone number which began with the right STD code for the place she was supposedly moving to. Hearing nothing, he phoned about a week later.
You have probably guessed what happened next. Phone call reached someone who had never heard of her. In desperation, he found the address connected to the number, I drove him there and we found 2 aged Seniors who were quite obviously nothing to do with the 'lady' in question.
A sadder and wiser man, he came away home with me. That episode changed the guy though: he was never the happy-go-lucky bloke he had been and he took years to find someone else he could trust. Now he is married to a very good woman, has great kids, and saves like a demon to keep it all together.
I would never reveal this guy's name to anyone, even his wife, but I tell this story to try to put forward another reason for the OP's tale of woe.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

A sad and cautionary tale indeed Robisere.
I prefer the version that the OP simply can't keep his willy in his trousers.

To the original poster...
It's been a couple of weeks or so since the last update to this thread, but having read through your situation, and the disgraceful replies from some of the more frequent members of MSE (especially ones who have "high" ratings), I felt that I had to register on the forum to air my disgust.
Whatever your situation, I hope you are now in a better position than when you first posted here a couple of weeks ago. Whether you've managed to find a loan, found a way of earning extra income, or simply found that you could survive without the loan. As you correctly stated in your original post, the reason for your loan is PERSONAL.
Comments that I personally find out of order include (but not limited to):
"you expect someone to lend you more money" (gb12345)
This is unfair of the member to assume that you would 'expect' someone to lend you money.
"zero chance of finding any company daft enough to lend you money" (apples2)
The term 'daft enough' is completely unnecessary, degrading and rude.
"you are simply a waster" (apples2 - again)
This is shocking, and in my opinion, verges on whether the member should be reported to the site moderators. The member is NO position to make an informed decision, and besides, their comments are both reckless, thoughtless and plain rude.
"Tell her she'll have to wait for her posh holiday/clothes/abortion" (staffie1)
Again, in my opinion, a post that verges on being reportable, especially the reference to an abortion. Absolutely unacceptable.
"I prefer the version that the OP simply can't keep his willy in his trousers" (PeelerFart)
Same kind of verbal abuse as per other members. Shocking and unhelpful.
It would be easy to perceive that more stars on your forum badge, relates to how rude and unhelpful you are... though I would hope there are some genuine members (without without stars), out there who can sympathise with this view.
These are just a few examples of why this post is my first and last on the forums of MoneySavingExpert. The concept of offering help, advice and guidance to others is ruined by a few members who appear to think they are superior to others, just because they have posted many times, and received a few stars.
The feature of 'being thanked' appears to be misused, as my previously mentioned quote from Staffie1 regarding the suggestion of 'waiting for an abortion' was thanked 3 times by other users?! I fail to see how such comments could be considered 'useful'.
So, whilst I unable to offer you any practice advice on your financial situation (other than to suggest you first speak with you current loan provider, to work though a repayment solution), I do hope you find an answer. However, it does appear that you may not find the advice you hoped for on this forum.
I also hope the moderators of this forum could perhaps review the comments being posted by 'high ranking' forum members and take some kind of action where necessary. Whilst the forum rules may allow such 'minor' abuse (as opposed to racial hatred, swearing etc), it can still be demeaning and hurtful to others. These people are quick to judge, and lack the ability to offer sensible suggestion. Without this, new users to the forum are likely to dwindle.
Best wishes for your future.0
