    OP,

I'm with the others here, you've got no chance of getting a loan.

We don't know what you want the loan for, because you say, it's personal OK fine.

A few months (years) ago we had a poster on this board, and some may remember this, who wanted a loan for a leg stretching operation so that would increase their modelling prospects and thus get more money, thus justifying the loan!

Can it be any more embarrasing than that?

I need to see this thread!

Also OP everyone is right, no-one will lend you if you are unemployed and are already behind on another loan.

    .

I believe that thread has now been deleted.

From what I remember the OP wanted to be a model and need the loan to stretch his legs (I believe he was short and wanted to be taller to fit the criteria)

The guy was a legend..... well, he wanted his leg ends further away from his backside anyway.

I want to walk out of my front door and find £1million in used notes tomorrow.

I reckon the OP and myself have about the same chance of success!!

Make a claim for JSA if your unemployed.

Call your creditors and advise of your situation.
    Bad luck breeds bad luck.

    Damn I'm doomed.

Is someone going to die or get badly beaten up if you can't get this money? Is it blackmail? I can't think of anything that could make you so desperate and not be able to disclose (when you're completely anonymous on here anyway) that would make you even consider that a loan shark is the only option.

If you're genuine, and you need some advice, telling us the reason you need all this money may lead to some helpful advice.
Nothing like that. It's just a personal reason (and I realise as a new poster, being vague doesn't endear). Whatever the reason, the fact that I need the money doesn't change :)

Your suspicions are correct, there's no way you'll get £5K from a loan company.

Friends/family might, but even that sounds a stretch if they know that you're not working.

Are you renting your home or do you own? Are you managing to keep up with your bills and council tax?

I live at home (still/currently). My family does not charge me rent. I pay no taxes. I won't appear on government records over the last 5 years or so. I have only myself to look after and that's it (or was the case until recently).

id be speaking to your bank re the current loan, not had a loan myself but would the bank maybe reduce the payments ?

Also get apying for jsa and any job.

so were you actually self employed then ?
This is what I'll have to sort first. If I can't pay, I can't pay. But I feel awful since my bank was good enough to approve my loan. Ironically, I wanted only a £500 loan but the minimum was £1,000. I'd have been okay had I got just £500. My situation now was unforeseen.

I have no idea what they'll demand when I can't pay them. How can I sort this? :o

Even this is not an option because loan sharks do not just serve up £5000 on a plate to those who have no income, no assets(?) and a very stressed credit report.

Yes they take risks on dodgy characters in return for sky-high interest, but in order to minimise their exposure they lend small amounts, really small amounts to first time borrowers. If you can manage to get a couple of £300-500 loans from the main payday lenders without them being alarmed by CRA searches from other payday lenders, you will be very hard pressed to get £250 off the next band of sharks, and then £100 off the next band, and the further down you go the higher the interest and the more lawless the outfit that is chasing you. So, for about a grand you can get your credit file trashed and your knee caps altered. Not worth it!

To get £5000 the only option is to borrow it from someone who knows you are good for it. The problem, it would seem, is everyone including yourself knows you are not good for it.
Thanks for taking the effort to explain. Much appreciated.

Aye - in a nutshell - I need a loan from someone who is (i) not short of cash and (ii) in no hurry to get it back. My last option would seem to be to ask a family member. I rate my chances no greater than 20%.

Well... I guess what's desperate to one person is another person's paradise. It's not that embarrassing. All I will reveal is, there is a woman involved - and my getting this money or not will determine my future!

Well, it looks like I'll probably have to go to family. I'll let you know how that goes, but I don't have high expectations. Only other option is to sell everything I do have and buy as many lottery tickets as I can. Cross my fingers and who knows?

...Meanwhile, if anyone does think of anything else, don't forget to let me know... :)

So you only needed £500, but they gave you £1,000. What did you do with the other £500? Let me guess it will be one of
    1. immediately paid it back to the bank.
    2. stuck it somewhere safe for a rainy day.
    3. spent it on "stuff".
Don't know why, but I'm tending towards 3.

You can probably get a quicky for 50 quid down your local red light area - no need to spend 5 grand.

Sounds like someone's bringing an incredibly expensive life into the world. Is the 5k to cover moving out, baby stuff etc? Or some kind of private procedure?
