    Hi Everyone

I know what you mean Roz - just had my DS on messenger, got a 50% for a piece of coursework back today, after 65-70's, think I have managed to bounce him back. He has two graduate placement scheme jobs on offer for a 2.1 so desperate to make it (he is aiming higher than I thought he would be able to, but that was his worst mark this year).

The hand luggage rules are a nightmare, look at this for the make up liquid restrictions
    http://www.jet2.com/flightinfo.aspx

But check on your airline page too.

A maximum length of 46cm, width of 30cm and depth of 23cm (including wheels, handles, side pockets etc

TBH I put all makeup in my hold luggage, electrical things are OK in the hand luggage, paper, writing equipment, etc., is OK. Naughty trick if your hand luggage is too heavy, is put anything which is small but heavy in your coat pocket when you check in. I used to do this with my laptop batteries when there was a 5kg restriction.

Dont buy any drinks before you go through the security check in, you can buy them from the departure lounge, but not before, they will take them off you. You could always take an empty water bottle/tupperware tumbler, and fill it from the taps after you go through, but many of the say "Not drinking water"!

My biggest gripe is that I used to take my cross-stitch on the plane with me, it passed the time on quickly, but even though I have round nosed scissors (some kids ones costing 75p as if they decide they are not OK I dont lose much) they dont like you having more than one needle. But you always get stopped and looked at even though they agree they are OK in the end. GRRRGH - the terrorists spoil it for us, even though I dont mind the security checks as they are to protect us, but TBH they are not that good.

I can remember DS losing all sorts at school, often they were taken to upset him (or anyone) by the "smart alex bullies". All you used to get is were they marked? What bright red name onthe outside of trainers??

Roll on Friday tea time - can't wait!

Catowen - congratulations on the premium bonds win. Wow, what a nice surprise.

I'll tell more when there's more to tell - I'm a little bit superstitious and don't want to talk it out before it's happened, but a bloke I met briefly last bank holiday Monday wants a date this Friday. He even re-arranged his working week because I'm going on holiday next week and he wanted us to meet up properly before I go. I'm feeling a bit cat-got-the-cream, though. :)

come on spendaholic - we need some good [STRIKE]gossip[/STRIKE] news on here today :D sorry was too slow typing and you posted before I did :)

well since feeling a bit down this morning I have made up for it by eating rubbish all day :p doritos......chocolate........ice cream...... you name it I have eaten it and now I feel thoroughly sick - serves me right :o

DD has gone off to dancing class after throwing a strop because she wants to go to yet another dance class on her one and only free night - oh and its only £4.80 per week on top of all of her other dance & singing lessons. She has 1 free night - six out of seven days she is either dancing or singing, but this is a hip hop class and of course she is useless at dancing if she cant do hip hop every body else can hip hop yadda yadda yadda. Im going to stop now as I am starting to rant again - wheres the doritos :rotfl:

have told my ex employer nicely where to stick their compromise ( gagging ) agreement, lets see what they come back with now :o

Oh, all right then ... here's the news so far ...

Last Monday I went to a rock festival. While there, I met loads and loads of people. So many, I daresay there are quite a few I don't even remember. One I do remember, however, was bass guitarist in one of the bands. I remember watching him play - I do love to watch bassists - and smiling at the look of serious concentration on his face - either that or the lights were shining in his eyes and he was frowning/scowling.

Amongst the 5o million people my new reviews editor introduced me to was this guy. We had a very brief chat - he was one of the organisers and was about to go onstage, so was feeling very stressed. It was so tightly packed in the pub the bands had to swap the gear around over people's heads without hurting anyone.

This Monday evening I did a search through my friends on MySpace and found that one of them was friends with this bass guitarist. So I asked to be added. He added me straight away and we got chatting until 1am and exchanged phone numbers.

The bass guitarist is working nights at the moment, but wanted to meet up for a drink early next week. Unfortunately, I'm off to Greece early next week so had to decline. Then he asked if I could make Thursday, and when I said I could, he said he'd try and rearrange work because he was busy on Friday and gigging Saturday and Sunday.

Yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, he texted me to say he was trying to sort Friday instead. The idea is, if we get along, he'll take me to one of their gigs on Sunday. Last night he started texting me again, from work, and we ended up texting until gone midnight. He remembered meeting me, he liked my picture on MySpace, sifted through the other pictures, and realised on reading my hobbies and interests that we have a lot in common. He said the best thing was I love rock gigs.

I'm assuming this means he's genuinely interested, and having spoken to a mutual friend on the phone last night, I'm assured he is a genuine, honest and up front guy who doesn't play mind games.

Teatime today, just as I was finishing work and he was heading off to work, the text came in that he'd sorted Friday. So that's when we're meeting again.

So ... enough? Does that sound positive?

    Evening all!
Anniestar - never mind the bankcard - dd has lost her Grease DVD and is turning the house upside down to look for it. She's accusing me of losing it on purpose as I have mentioned once or twice that I am heartily sick of danny and sandy. She is paying me back by singing all the songs very loudly and badly in the hopes that I will give in and "find" it. I would if I could honest.
Exoh is back - he just walked through the door with dinner which I notice is a very small mushroom stir fry, garlic bread and two huge jars of nescafe apparantly on offer and representing a saving of £1. 30something - well not if you don't drink instant coffee mister!
AAAW Catowen and spendaholic - great news - keep us posted. I'm feeling like I'd quite like to be a bit unsingle but it's a bit hard when you have to explain about a seemingly resident exoh and plus you have no life so never meet anyone. I'm not doing that work romance thing ever again as the last one was a bit messy.

Oh I'm informed that the dinner is in fact a mushroom stirfry omelette  but it means that I still have done no grocery shopping this week :)

It is now exactly three weeks before i jet off to the cayman islands for the trip that my sister's work is treating us to and I'm having a clothes panic. I normally schlepp around in jeans and tops and own one pair of shoes which are doc martens. (ok i'm exagerrating - I also own a pair of wellies and some battered slippers). A good friend has given me two sarongs but what else should I take - I never go on this sort of holiday and haven't worn a skirt or shorts in at least 15 years - my legs have the sort of bluey-whiteness that laundry soap manufacturers can only dream of.

have a good rest of the night
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

Hi all – thought I had a reasonable day with plenty of time to myself but, oh, no, it didn’t last! DH wanted to take his car in to be looked at and the chap won’t have time to even diagnose the problem until tomorrow, so I had to go and pick him up in my car and then it was either me drive him to site or him take the care and I opted for the latter – I’d already wasted half the morning not being able to do anything constructive while I waited for him to call me to pick him up and did not want to get stuck in the rush hour to pick him up. Anyway, came home and got on with things as best I could then had a text from DS2 – could I pick him up from work because he had terrible earache and HIS car is also being ‘looked at’ so is out of action. His earache stems from a serious condition he had ten years ago when he was fifteen; it’s called cholesteatoma and he had to have three ops on it to take out most of the inside and then rebuild it. He has to have regular checkups to have it cleaned out and checked and the last time, in March this year, the nurse who examined him put some ointment in it. This is the first time anyone has done that because it’s supposed to be kept dry and he didn’t know she was doing it until too late. At the end of April his ear was hurting so I insisted the hospital see him straightaway and, today, it started hurting again. Anyway, because DH had my car he had to pick him up from work and then we had to insist he was seen again and this time he saw a proper doctor and not the nurse (who was about eleven years old!) and it has been treated. All this seems to have taken care of the rest of the day!
Anyway, I’ve got that off my chest!
I’ve yet again missed most of the thread today and yesterday’s – despite the best intentions. Will try and go through them both before tomorrow – probably in the early hours! Will collect GD from pre-school tomorrow and, because I will not have the car, I have had to suss out the local buses. I can’t remember the last time I went on the bus and I’m quite looking forward to it! I know GD will love it. It’s not too long a journey and will get me there too soon so I’ll have a scoot round the charity shops for some more books to list on Amazon – having had two sales in four days, I’m encouraged to list some more.
AMIE – glad you are OK – I don’t like it when people go AWOL although I know just how the time can run out on you!
SOMEONE has gone down a dress size and I’m sorry I haven’t found out who, yet but, WELL DONE!!
Dinner tonight was Paprika Pork (from the freezer because I’m on a freezer-challenge week this week – I’m really pleased with myself because I am ruthlessly using up the contents of the freezer for all the meals this week; it was a real help doing an inventory earlier because I had no idea how many meals I had in there, so I must have saved quite a lot of money this week!) We had that with roasties and then plum and rhubarb crumble for pudding. I’m stuffed and might not even have room for the KitKat I bought today! Tomorrow, we are at DS2’s and his GF for dinner; I’ll be taking the pudding so, in a minute, I need to look on here for a recipe. I’m also taking a loaf from the BM – one of DANNAHAZ’S brilliant recipes!
I had intended to list a few more things on eBay today but that has gone out of the window so I will try and do that once GD has been collected by her mummy tomorrow, ironing pile is still quite small so some things are going to plan. Took me ages to get the new shower going this morning but managed it in the end. Didn’t help that the control to turn the power on is just a bit too high for me (I’m only 5’3” – you’d think the chap who installed it would have noticed – I made him enough coffees!)
I’ve just remembered that I’ve left the washing out on the line and it’s maybug flying time so I’ll have to get DH to do it for me – I ain’t going out there now!
Anyway, I’m going to love you all and leave you – may pop in later if I haven’t dozed off while I’m knitting. My DH swears he’s seen me knit in my sleep!
(((Hugs))) to all who are in need, Good Luck to all who have things needing luck coming up and have a great evening to you all! I’ll try and catch up with all the news soon!

    Hi All,
A big thank you for the birthday wishes. Had a lovely day, OH had the day off, (its our wedding anniversary as well today) and we have been to Ludlow for the day, a long but beautiful drive, some amazing scenery. Had a quick trip around Ludlow castle and a lovely lunch in a fantastic Olde Worlde place, with the most fantastic hm cakes, they bring you out a cake stand with a massive selection to choose from.
MIL has made me a choccy cake and my mum has bought one so plenty of cake in the Pea household at the moment!
Im off to watch Property Ladder and write a new meal plan (OH is bored rigid with the old one!)
Hugs all round to everyone who needs one, lots of people here at the moment it seems.:grouphug:

    Hi everyone

GB is back from holiday in Spain. Had a fantastic week with really good weather. One cloudy day but still warm. DH had a lovely 60th (he got his Scottish bus pass just before we left for airport, day before his 60th!). Our friend's apartment great as usual and this time I took Stardrops out for my clean-up before we left. I think it was even cleaner than when we got there.

Had a bit of a nightmare last night coming home. Flight delayed from Malaga and then large contingent of Sevilla football supporters for EUFA cup in Hampden. Had to sit on tarmac when arrived in Edinburgh as one was arrested for smoking in toilet before we could get off plane. Didn't get home until 2 am this morning and then we couldn't wind down. Hamster went beserk when we got home. Neighbour fed when away but he got no treats. He seemed so happy to see us!

60th party on Saturday so we are so busy now preparing. Cut grass and a hug scrub of garden furniture. Again Stardrops did the stuff with just a bit of elbow grease in between showers. Now planning the stuff to come out of freezer to be cooked when we need to do it and a big shop at Costco tomorrow night. DD doing loads of salad, bless her. Eight weeks to go until Finlay arrives, big sorting out of baby stuff and she is still doing party food. She is fantastic. She had a nasty fall while we were away and had a wee twinge in the tummy but thankfully all OK we hope.

DS and partner arriving on Friday for party and 45 at least expected on Saturday! Wow. At least they won't do that for my 60th as it will be on Xmas day thank goodness.

Mum had her cataract - her only vision eye on Monday and all seems to have gone OK. She is up for the party on Saturday.

Hope you are all OK. Sorry if you are having problems and congratulations to anyone celebrating.

Bear with me for another few days until I get the party over and done with. Then I have to tackle the garden!!!

Lots of love to you all.
