OS daily thread for 16/05/07

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 16/05/07. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning! I have been to bed but I can't sleep so I got up again!

DH obvously isn't having the same trouble since *snoring noises* are emanating from his side of the bed:rotfl: :rotfl: This makes it even worse for me!!

Plans for today include the normal weekly shop, plus if the rain holds out I shall attempt to plant up all the baskets and tubs. I have loads of plants just sittting waitingfor new homes:D :D Hopefully they won't be waiting too much longer!

Is anyone else suffering from squirrels digging up half their garden? Mine seem to be having a field day at the moment!! I just don't believe they burried that many nuts last Autumn!!

Oh well I'm beginning to feel tired again, so will try to sleep again. Hope you all have a very good Wednesday,
CMxx

Hi there Churchmouse! See I'm not the only one who can't sleep! My DH is clearly like yours - the snores are audible here downstairs!
I've finished a book, checked my emails, planned what I'd like to get through today in the way of work/housework, played spider solitaire...and come onhere!
If I don't get back into bed defore long I'll be doing nothing useful in the morning at all - but sleep seems as far away as before.
Hope all who post later have a good day.

Oh dear hope you all manage some sleep soon! Only 11.02pm here so just about to go to bed after I have caught up on yesterdays thread. We have had a lovely day at Universal Studios, a really good park that we didn't get to visit last year.

We have to buy dd a new case tomorrow before she flies home (Wal Mart do a great lightweight one that is very reasonable) and this weekend we drive to Georgia if we can but the forest fires are quite bad along the route we have to take!

Only 1 week and we will be back ourselves!

Hello everyone and good evening to Catznine - lovely to hear from you!

    Happy birthday to Sweet Pea.

I've got a touch of the insomnias today as well, though not unusual for me.

I think today, other than go to w*r*, I will do a spot of supermarket shopping. The cupboards are quite healthily full at the moment, but I do need to get some kitty litter and a few odds and ends like milk and some fruit. It's a lean month for me thanks to the expense of the car's mot last month.

Otherwise, not a lot else to report from SnowyOwlVillas.

    Bye

Goodmorning Churchmouse, Beemuzed, catzine and Snowyowl and all others who follow

I woke up at about 4am and have just given up getting back to sleep - this is not like me at all. Im cuddled up on the sofa with my DDog and a cup of tea. Ive put the heating on too as the house is cold.
I think I am having trouble sleeping because of problems with my ex employer. I was made redundant 2 weeks ago and they have treated me like dirt. I havent even been paid my redundancy pay yet and they are saying that I will not get paid untill I sign a compromise agreement but I am not happy about signing the agreement because of the way they have treated me. If I dont get another job in the next couple of weeks I will have to buy a car as my company car will have to go back and I have never owned my own car. I was hit from behind in January but the claim has still not been sorted so Im worried that it is going to effect the insurance that I am going to have to take out in my name. I havent even ever had my own car insurance ( always had a company car ) so I dont have any no claims built up. I havent got a clue what car to buy or where to buy it from  before all of this happened my DD applied and got offered a place at a stage school but I am not going to be able to afford it unless I get a new job soon so everything is in limbo at the moment. Im trying to keep spirits up but am also now starting to get worried. I went for an interview yesterday with a recruitment agency and they are going to put my name forward for 6 jobs and on top of that I have applied for 2 other jobs but havent heard anything back from anybody yet. I had a massive arguement with my ex BF the day before yesterday - we tried to remain friends after splitting up but we ended up having an arguement so that didnt end well at all.
Think this is going to be a down day :( my friend is popping over after the school run as I am helping her to re claim bank charges so hopefully she will give me a kick up the bum. Day 10 of quitting smoking and its getting hard - I have put on 3lbs already as I cant stop eating. Packing in smoking at this time hasnt been too bad as my routine has totally changed with not being at work but its just the over eating that is getting me down. Or is it because Im down that I am over eating
Sorry to be moaning so much - I should be thankful that at least we have a roof over our heads, food on the table and our health.

Good morning everyone. Hugs to the other insomniacs. I've been awake since 3.30am. Oops a daisy, I hope things pick up soon.

I started a system with my toddler last week that involves a reward of going to an indoor play centre once a week and he did well so we're doing that today with his friends. I also have to do the grocery shop and take the baby for his immunisations. I probably won't have time for much else in between getting everyone fed and taking the lad to preschool and picking him up but I emptied the shelves out of the fridge to clean them yesterday and haven't done it yet, so I will have to do that unless DH gets to it first. And the oven is  so I'll try to at least do the door to make a start on it. (Don't things get harder when you don't have time to keep on top of them a bit at a time!)

Trying to get round to repotting my mint and shallots too. I don't want to put any bedding plants in yet as I've got something sprouting in the boxes and I want to wait to see if it's anything interesting first!

I've made a start on getting out of the house without the children after a year of being pretty immobile. I went for a meal on Friday night, to the pub on Monday night and I'm going out again tomorrow. Thank goodness Monday was a cheap night. I'd forgotten that socialising outside of the house dips into the budget! Still, very much needed and I'm enjoying it.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

Good morning to you all and all who post after me! Hope all those who were up in the night managed to get some sleep in the end. I woke up at about 1.30 a.m. and sat downstairs reading the paper for half an hour. I managed to go straight to sleep once I’d gone back to bed and slept for a whole two and a half hours and up again at about 4.30! Feel wide awake now – won’t be feeling like that at about 9.00 a.m.!
SWEET PEA – Happy Birthday!:bdaycake: :bdaycake:
CATZNINE – good to hear from you and that you are enjoying yourself!:T :T
OOPSADAISY – so sorry you’re going through it at the moment. I was made redundant about eight years ago and it took about two months before I got my final pay cheque. Are you in a union because they would be able to advise you about the way you have been treated? Regarding putting on weight now that you’ve given up smoking; while you’re in that ‘can’t stop eating’ phase, have you thought about chewing gum? I have also heard that taking a sip of water every time you feel like a fag or something to eat helps. You’ve gone nine days now which is really good so keep it up! By the way, you are NOT moaning – you’re just letting off steam and frustration   and, as I far as I am concerned, this thread is the best place to do that because we’re all here for you. Good luck!:T :T
Well, had a strange day yesterday because we had a new shower installed and the plumber also put in new taps in the kitchen which my DH just ‘hadn’t got round to doing’ and that, of course, meant emptying out the under-sink cupboard which I had only just reorganised! And, of course, I had to shove all the stuff back in in a hurry so that I could get on with the dinner and now nothing is in the right place!  I’ll have to sort it out this morning and it’s a job I hate. Still, I managed to get all the ironing done yesterday which is a good feeling! I hate having workmen in because you can never really get on with anything. Still, all done now and will try out the new shower in a mo!
I need to read the rest of yesterday’s thread – I meant to do that before I came on here so I’ll probably read it and then type another post! I need another cuppa now. My plans for today (to do a bit of charity shopping) have gone out of the window because DH informed me late last night that he’s booked his car in because the clutch master cylinder (I think that’s what he said!) or some other thingy :confused: in his car is playing up, so he’ll need a lift back from the garage and then I can either take him to work or he’ll take my car. As I do not want to get stuck in rush hour traffic either taking him or picking him up when he’s finished, he’s taking my car. Still, it means a no-spend or at least a low-spend day – I’ll just walk up to the paper shop and get the paper.:T :T
I’ve been on freezer/storecupboad challenge all week and have made quite a dent on the contents of the freezer. I did an inventory and was astonished at how much was in there and yet every week I was buying meat without really needing it. We’ve used up a lot of the stuff in there and I think I’ll do the same next week and then have a bit of a spend up at the butchers. Will definitely keep the inventory up from now on!
Anyway, going to have a wander around the rest of yesterday’s thread and will look in again later. Hope everyone has a great day!

    Good morning everyone,

oops a daisy - ((HUGS)), hope the job situation is sorted soon, but well done on getting to day 10 with not smoking - have you worked out how much money you have saved? That may be an extra incentative to keep going!!!

kyle - so glad LO is sleeping better xx

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET PEA

(HUGS) to anyone who wants/needs one xxxxxxxx

Not much happening here either today - its new LOs second day with me, so hoping it will go as well as Monday, and have my 2 normal ones here as well, so a very busy day for me.
As i am busy, it will mean i will struggle again with my flying, but, the house is clean and tidy, and hopefully i will have the energy to keep on top of it later once the LOs have gone (normally do as much as i can in the morning, by the afternoon ive had it!!!).
Right, going to finish my cuppa and get ready for LO.

Hope everyone has a lovely day,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
