  • What's done is done. We all meed a little treat now and again and at least it was savvy sales spending you did.
Perhaps they will part refund you back in vouchers for the original necklace. Anything else in the sale you fancied?? :p

Mmm I lobe halloumi and I have some in the fridge too. That's tomorrow's lunch sorted for me too :D Xx

Thanks PLMBL! In my defence they were both things I was going to get before the sales!

I used to buy stuff and then not use it and keep it "good". But was stung when something that was being kept good was not worn for about 6 months and broke almost instantly! Now when I buy things I make sure to try to use them ASAP!!! Saying that today was my first day wearing a pair of wedges I bought in Feb - :/

Soo today I had on my new skirt, necklace, wedges and bag! They all matched and it was a good look!

£75 spent on Tesco and there was no that much food. But got toilet rolls and washing powder etc so was expecting it to be expensive!
  • I'm just as bad when it comes to things in the sales. I generally don't find anything but if I spot something that is nice then I just can't seem to say no at the moment. Despite deciding that I really couldn't spend any more on unnecessary things this month I managed to 'just check' the New Look sale and walk out with a dress. Damn it. :D

Really enjoying the diary by the way. Good luck to you!

When you gotta you gotta! Don't beat yourself up about it. Ok a couple of things seemed to be impulse buys, but it happens. Part of the reason we work in the first place, huh?!

I went a bit  with spending over the holidays, but I had a great time off work and it was worth every penny :) Now that I'm back at work I just need to get back on track!

PS. Got my new bike :D Halfords. My work doesn't do the cycle to work scheme unfortunately. But it's a gorgeous bike, and I love it. And seeing as I'm only going to be buying myself 1 bike, I figured I may as well get a good one ;)

    Hi team,

Thanks for the advice guys! You have made me feel better. It was a splurge – but it was not that bad. But I was reading back emails from about 2 years ago where my previous splurges were £300 between M&S and top shop in one go, so I think £62.50 was not that bad. ;)

Had a busy few days so not been on boring everyone. Sorry I’ve not had much time to read other diaries so decided that I will NOT not post because of that. I’ll just need to peek in later.

The spending has not ended though...

£2.25 on lunch today. Spend £25 in Holland and Barretts yesterday (vitamins etc- they are expensive) and spend £20 on the alterations. Spent £45 at physio/chiropractor and £2 in pound land at weekend. And amazing wee ankle cowboy boots I’ve had for AGES are in to be reheeled - likely £10.

So a big spending week. Did I need it all – not necessarily. Do I regret it? Yes- some of it. It could maybe have waited and paced the alterations/boots re-heeld out.

I’m actually feeling really bad about it. It’s like when you are dieting and you do so well so then your splurge on cake. Well I’ve been doing that AND splurging on things aswell. On things that cost me money. Food & money. It’s a lose lose situation.

Ended up having to withdraw £150 out of savings to pay for things. I also note that I still have £300 on my credit card from wedding stuff (remainders of honeymoon and invite costs). I really don’t like having anything on the credit card (it’s a slippery slope) so think I am going to withdraw £300 from savings to clear that aswell. It is wedding costs and the savings are for the wedding so it actually makes sense. :money:

Positives – Well I really worry and stress when I have anything on my credit card now. Back in the old days I had just under £6k on one credit card! And never used to bother at all. I used to pay more than £100 in interest each month  on that card aswell. That is less than what I have spent on clothes this month – something to remind myself if I ever want to rack up the debt again. What could I buy with the interest?

Now I am fretting non stop about £300! So that’s a positive sign!?! I think so. I still have my balance transfer amount aswell. But that is 0% for 18 months so I’m trying to save that up just now so at 18 months it is sitting there ready to clear card. Hopefully gaining interest. And my wedding dress is actually on that. It somehow feels better when you actually have something to show for it? Well for me it does. :kisses3:

Lasty, even though it is 0% I think I am going to reduce my overdraft by £50 on payday. I just hate having one. I am not the same with an overdraft they way I am with credit cards. I never have any desire to clear them so this I need to get rid of once and for all!
OFFICAL WEDDING COUNDOWN BEGINS as of 1st of August – 7 MONTHS. :j:T
Wedding diet begins. I will mark up my weight and my weekly gains/losses. 7 months to go people.
Want to lose over 1.5 stone. That is 3lbs a month – THAT IS REALISTIC!!!
I will log into myfitnesspal every single day. 7 months. 7. MONTHS.
I will try to swim two times a week. Not once. But twice.
I will have a salad at some point every day (either fruit or veg).
I will TRY not have any cheat days. Why? As it is only for 7 months.
I will stop drinking alcohol except for weddings/hens/birthdays.

7 months is a good time span. That is a good target and I think I will be dedicated as If I really want something (like my Samsung phone) I will repeat – after the wedding. After the wedding. 7 Months. After the wedding. NO! After the wedding :D

Def think you're well on track to becoming debt free! Amazing the change in your spending from a year or two ago: you wouldn't have blinked at £200+ and now you're beating yourself up at £50+!!!!

Maybe include some of your 7 month goals in your signature so it's easier to keep track?

I think I will HAW! Started on the 26th (yesterday) for the diet so that is a sneaky 5 days ahead of start date!

Just weighed myself - 9st 13lbs! Want to be 8st 7lbs. I'm a shortie so 8st-8st 7lbs is my healthy range! So 20lbs to lose!

Been recording on myfitnesspal and I've not cheated (well in last 2 days) despite many temptations! Think it helps when I tell everyone wedding diet has begun - they don't push the issue much!

PAY DAY! So cleared credit card (£297) and decided just to cancel my overdraft whilst in credit (£300) so I am now overdraft free! Yehhhh! :money: But my savings will be down this month! Think I will only be able to save £300 this month but at least when I get paid next month the full pay will be mine and not swallowed by an overdraft! And I never took the £300 from savings.

    Right...off to update signature! X

So the slosh account has been allocated £425 for August, this is for:

    £45 - Physio/chiropractor
£20 - Massage (for pain relief)
£75 - Holiday balance to be paid
£150 - Botox (moment to judge) (also supposed to be £175 but was charged £150 last time)
£30 - Wedding money (hope to not even spend this)
    £100 - Trip to London

Now I think I have to reassess the London budget! I shall have move £100 out of other account leaving £200 for London, £300 wedding savings and £67 for misc expenses! No splurges on handbags this month!

August is looking to be tight... but at least the Botox means I can't wrinkle my forehead worrying about it :D

Well... turns out I owe OH £100 smackers  and that's not kisses ;) he paid my share of the girls wedding in Ireland on his credit card and I COMPLETELY forgot about it! DOH!

But.... sounds crazy but ages and agggeees ago (as in years) I put £10 into a bingo site (stupid I know) as it was doubled or something. Anyway I actually have £91 sitting in the account that I have never withdrawn as those card details are not valid! Soooo tomorrow I'm going to get that withdrawn! That roughly will cancel out they £100 I owe OH! It will leave a £12 bonus I was given (but can't withdraw) so ill play bingo with that in the hope that I win something off it!!! Finger crossed! I'm thinking £30k would be a nice reasonable amount... :D

I also have two scratch cards where I have won £4 total. So need to cash them in!

I read today that 50% of your breakfast should be fruit and 50% of your lunch and dinner shoud be vegetables or salad! I am going to try to adopt this approach!

    Xxx

Good luck on your £30k :D I'm sure you won't need it all, so any going spare just send it my way please! ;)

    Payday for me tomorrow :j
