Top 10 service companies to haggle with

Seems like I haven't been anywhere near as successful as most on here with regards to Sky; my year long groupon 50% off TV packages discount was coming to an end in the next week. Twice I've got through to retentions and both times the best they could offer me was a couple of quid off line rental, otherwise it was going up to full price. Mention of BTs better offer/requests to talk to supervisors/mention of the new customer deals all fell on deaf ears and now my whole package is cancelled.
Seems that I fell into the 12% that get no success when trying to haggle with Sky!0 -
You may now get contacted with an offer .0

I have been paying Sky £108 for TV(inc movies), Phone and Fibre Broadband and really needed to reduce costs. Virgin posted a pack through the door with a pretty decent offer that would save £40 for the first 12 months and then £31 for the final 6 months of an 18 month contract.
I called Sky and armed with all the details and a good way of speaking, as I come from a significant call centre background, I told the person from Sky I was leaving and explained in details why.
The person I spoke to went through a number of questions with me and came out offering me a new 12 months deal where I would save £31 for the first 10 months. The only concession I had to make was losing HD movies, which is no big deal.
Well, Sky managed to keep me quite hapily with that offer.0 -
So your current costs are £77pm, for 10 months and then what after .0

So.... I got my renewal today for the AA. £364.00 I thought I'd give Martin's haggle a go. So looked online and found RAC offering same benefits for £169!!!
I called the AA and politely told them I was leaving. The advisor agreed it was a great deal......went off to "discuss with his manager".....
And then matched the RAC offer! Woohoo!
Thank you Martin! :money:0 -
As a Sky customer for 12 years, currently paying £78/month just for TV/multiroom/HD/sports I phoned up today and mentioned BT's better deal for new customers and nominally said I wanted to cancel. I was offered only an £8/month reduction for 10 months, and the woman on the phone was very rude and seemed incredulous that I'd even want to consider moving to BT. She also proceeded to lie about aspects of what BT are offering. Seems a strange attitude, although perhaps when you are a customer for a really long time they expect you to call and pretend to want to cancel knowing you won't go through with it so what they offer isn't very good.
Very disappointed with Sky so I did cancel.0 -
PLEASE CHECK if you have received information about future increases, for me I had a phone call from Plusnet asking if my service was OK.
I mentioned that I had just received information about increases in September 2015, was told to compare competitor quotes and get back to them, which I did, to start with they told me I would have to pay a penalty to leave, when I mentioned the 30 Day leave without penalties because of increases things changed
I was then asked for details of competitors pricing, in this case TalkTalk.
My future bills have been reduced from £47 to £41 for fibre internet 38Mb and telephone free calls and 100mins to mobiles per month, with anonymous call reject, caller display, internet security. :beer:There are more questions than answers :shhh: :silenced:WARNING ! At least Plusnet is BRITISH call centres, they should sort it out for you especially if it's through Openreach (BT) :beer:valeriej43 wrote: »I changed from Talktalk to plusnet, an wish i hadnt, got notice of charges increas and signal always dropping now, also, might not be connectet to plusnet but now getting 8-10 scam calls or survey valls etc a day, not happy, but only since changing to plusnetThere are more questions than answers :shhh: :silenced:WARNING !
