hi 1st timer
I also like buying shiney gadgets and thats partly why i am in debt too (along with holidays)
you are doing great so far but very annoying about the bt
i find the envelope system works very well (although i mainly have online accounts i transfer to for xmas, birthdays etc...).
one thing i would say is though to budget a certain amount each week for you to spend guilt free. you will inevitably want to go on a meal out, need new clothes, toiletries etc... and i found it much easier to give myself a set amount to spend then the rest goes on the debt. you can afford to maintain your debt and have been making good overpayments so you cant deny yourself everything or life will be no fun! a set amount each week or month works well as it means you dont go mad and can keep on track. if you dont spend it all by the end of the week just save it up for a while and then you can buy yourself a new gadget or something guilt free:D

Morning clippygirl
Yes you are right, I'm not quite sure how much to allocate myself each week but will start with a figure and then adjust accordingly I suppose, I'm with you on the holiday front too! I can't not go away:rotfl:
Tomorrow is the start of my envelope plan so fingers crossed and Tuesday I should have an update on the debt
So glad it's nearly here:TSave £12k in 2025 #32Make £2025 in 2025 #28

Morning Kittycat
:T well done on the no spend days that's brilliant! That also means you must have gone a whole weekend without spending too, now that's willpower:beer:
The envelope system is where you allocate a certain amount to spend each week, say I put £20 in an envelope and then that's what I use, I can't go over - its just away of budgeting I suppose but sounds like its helped a lot of people take stock of how much spending they do.
I also go from extremes, do really well and then go OTT with spending (especially if there's a new gadget out there!)Save £12k in 2025 #32Make £2025 in 2025 #28

Morning all
Hope you had a great weekend,
I paid £800 of the credit card this morning, only because i couldn't wait any longer:o
Not quite sure on how much i have left remaining but i'll give it a couple of days for all the accounts to settle down and then hopefully i can throw a bit more at it.
I've also put £200 into the savings for car insurance/holiday
so my weekly envelope is going contain £20 which should be plenty and my monthly treat envelope will have £50, if i stick to these figures, i might even have some remaining at the end of the month :TSave £12k in 2025 #32Make £2025 in 2025 #28

Evening 1st timer i understand the envelope system now lol aso it wasnt willpower that made me have 8/8 no spend days it was the fact that i only have £3.61 in my account until 3rd may lol0

The fact that you did it without going overdrawn or getting in more debt shows you do have will power though, once upon a time I bet you wouldn't have thought twice spending with that amount in your account.
I'm going to leave my cards at home today and only take the envelopes, I'm lucky as I live a walk away from the office so if there was an emergency etc i can always go back and get them, but this way the temptation is hopefully gone.Save £12k in 2025 #32Make £2025 in 2025 #28
