Oh feel for you the more I read about husbands being let loose with the budget the more I appreciate not having one now. Theres only me to blame for going over.Slimming World at target0 -
My henny pennies are laying somewhere but not in the laying box - thanks to the dopey broody one who won't let them in. No eggs in over 2 weeks so there must be a massive clutch of them somewhere! So I will be that mad woman stalking hens around the field looking for the golden hoard of eggs!!
Ha, mine do this too. Crawling through the shrubbery looking for the mystical egg mountain is hard work!'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Sorry to butt in as I forgot to sign up for the challenge at the start of the month but was wondering......
I have a big american style fridge freezer & we're going away for approx 3.5 weeks in July. Is it worth emptying them out before we go and switching it off while we're gone? Will we save enough in electricity costs to make it worth the hassle?
TIA
I would not switch it off - they can get quite cantankerous about resuming normal working after a spell being switched off. I would empty the fridge and pad out any space in the freezer with cheap or no-cost items (freezer packs for your cold box or loaves of bread) so that it works as efficiently as possible while you are away

Not posted for a few days but I'm off to update my sig.
Well that plan was immediately ditched.
I had started tonights dinner as I posted, about 800g leftover roast lamb in a tomato sauce with a bit of basil to have with pasta or rice.
When I looked up from my post I saw DS (age 10) tipping vinegar into it. I checked the pan, he had put a hearty dose of every herb and spice in the drawer into it and some more.
Result a very very hot curried lamb with an undertone of vinegar.
Beans on toast for dinner tonight and a huge waste of lamb and 2 tins of tomatoes
Off to do a meal and shopping plan for the rest of the month which will be very difficult and as a couple of payments are larger than expected and I have no money to last me until payday on 15th July
Bye for now
