Loving the pics everyone. We are creeping up too fast to the june budget, so have taken out £70 cash for this week and giving this a go. One of the kids is away for some of this week, so hoping this will help a bit with keeping it down and my monthly meal plan will need sorting through again, as i`m desperate to keep the spends down this week.

We had the opportunity to go the butchers recommended by my colleague on Saturday so bought 2kg of chicken (11 medium sized breasts) for £10. It looks quite nice but haven't sampled it yet. I think this was a good price.

I also spent £10 on batteries  as they had run out in the living room clock, my kitchen scales and DS new toy all at the same time! We managed to pick up some ys GF muffins, tea cakes and a bloomer and a finest ciabatta. The bloomer wasnt great but I have sliced it and froze it in 2 piece portions for toast as I dont eat much GF bread as it is so bad but sometimes just fancy some.

I had hoped to make some GF bread and carrot cake at the weekend but with no scales I couldn't. I will try and make the cake tonight so it can go in the oven with tonight's pasta bake tea.

I have been doing some research on what value products are GF and discovered that Mr T value cunchy nut cornflakes are GF and at £1.25 compared to £2.99 for a similar sized box of GF cereal I thought I would give them a wirl and they are lovely:D

    Morning everyone,

Off to fat club in a minute but just to update:

Spent a LOT at the weekend as fed 13 yesterday. We got a rolled and stuffed pork loin joint from the farm shop, plus DH got a jar of goose fat and a really posh apple sauce - total of £28. Then I spent £46.77 in Ts on veggies, wine and ingredients for starters and desserts. Then DH spent £24.66 in As on beer and the smallest two cauliflowers you have ever seen - so embarrassing that everyone only got one floret each :o

Had chicory topped with crumbled stilton, chopped pecans and a balsamic dressing, plus soda bread topped with crème fraiche, horseradish, smoked salmon and picked red cabbage for starters.

Roast pork loin with roast pots, roasted veg (courgette/butternut squash), cauli cheese, Yorkshires and apple sauce.

HM keylime cheesecake or rhubarb crumble for dessert with Aldi rts custard. You should've seen FIL and MIL faces when they asked where the delicious custard was from - they are Wa!trose snobs :rotfl:

My spends were from our joint account so definitely included in this month's GC. DH doesn't have a debit card for that account ;) so used our credit card which technically means we pay for his spends next month. As this is classed as 'entertaining' I'm quite comfortable with that.

    This week's meals:
    Monday - spaghetti bolognaise
Tuesday - A!di filled pasta with tomato mascarpone sauce
Wednesday - sweet and sour chicken with noodles (quorn for me)
Thursday - pork loin steaks with cream/mushrooms, gnocchi
Friday - LO gammon from freezer with pasta and a cheese sauce
Saturday - mussels, French fries and French stick (just DH, DS2 and me as other two are at camp)
Sunday - Roast gammon and trimmings

Will go to Ts after fat club for cream, mushrooms, fruit, salad, ham, pasta sauce and yoghurt.

    Blimey, longest post EVER!!

Morning, just to report two NSDs which are desperately needed. Spend day today but only on school dinners for Friday, which had to be paid today (they like their fish and chips on a fri).

Coxy, your meal sounds lovely, it has made me hungry and it is only 9.45am!!
    Have a good day xx

    Hi everyone,

Lost 1.5lbs whoop, go me! This is after gaining 1lb each week for the last two weeks, so at least now going in the right direction!

Ts afterwards for bits and bobs. Decided not to get a bag of clementines for £1.80  instead opting for ys cantaloupe melon for 65p. Cashier scanned it at full price of £2 so I toddled off to CS to get a refund. DTD refused though as it was 'human error'. I have just email Head Office to query this as surely anything wrongly priced is human error no? (too much time on my hands on my one day off this week....obviously)

Total of £15.88 spent, minus £1.35 refund so £14.53 going onto my total.

    Sorry for rambling on.

Well refined my 'storecupboard week' mealplan a little more and spent around £16 in-store (OH also spent £3.50 on cleaning supplies yesterday and I spent £4 odd on bits and bobs) so my new total is £180.02. This means I have £4.98 to do me until I get paid 25/06 - but I don't need anything except will top up on milk and bananas when I run out :-)

Made a lovely three course meal today for OH's mum, who's staying for a couple of days. Forgot to take pics of starter and main course but everyone was really impressed with the individual baked syrup sponge puds I made for dessert. I was most impressed that I had all the ingredients in already :rotfl: I turned them upside down when I took the out of the ramekins, so the syrup was on top like a traditional steamed pudding (but much less hassle cooking in the oven!).

    Mealplan as follows:
    • Sun 16 – (OH's mum visiting) – wild mushroom soup, spaghetti bolognaise with homemade foccacia and syrup sponge puddings with ice-cream
    • Mon 17 – (OH’s mum visiting) – hummous, pittas and salads
    • Tues 18 – chicken, broccoli and cheese lasagne with salad
    • Wed 19 – vegetable chilli with rice
    • Thurs 20 – homemade pizzas with salad
    • Fri 21 – veggie shepherd’s pie & peas (made with pulses, not fake meat)
    • Sat 22 – away celebrating a friend’s birthday!
Can you share the recipe for syrup puds please? They look yummy.

:money:I thought you may like to know the Seriously Strong cheddar is £5/kilo in Mr Ts - I bought a big block for the freezer - I was in there for the first time in maybe 2 years after My supermarket made them cheaper for laundry detergent.

After 18 months doing this challenge I have now bought toilet rolls, laundry detergent and water filters having used up my stash. It will take me marginally over the 50% half year point at the end of the month but I have enough for the next 6 months or so.
