  • Afternoon All

Weekly shop this am at Mr T. Needed quite a bit of stuff. £69.73 after a £5 off voucher, takes my total spend over this month's budget by £16.57 and I'll at least have more bread/milk/fruit to buy before end of my month on 24th. Never mind, £280 monthly budget is pushing it a bit I think for me. Think being under that last month may have been bit of a fluke :rotfl:. Will wait to see my final spend end of month and set next month's budget as average of last four months spend I think. I'm already careful what I buy, EV stuff where I can, items on offer, etc.

I was going to get in my garden and do a bit before school pick up this afternoon, but showers keep coming, so I'm on here and having cuppa/bacon sandwich instead :). Back to work tomorrow, expecting busy week.

    Keep Smiling :)

Not posted for a few days but I'm off to update my sig.
I spent £51.83 over the weekend.
I've lost track of what I've spent on packed lunches for school but it does seem an awful lot.
I've got enough food and packed lunch stuff in to last this week and cover a friend visiting this weekend.
I may as well put the children down for school dinners but the food is poor quality (a tuna roll and a piece of arctic roll being an example) and they are picking up terrible table manners.

I am well on my way to exhausting my allowance and still have 13 days to go:eek:
I plan to leave the purse at home as much as possible over the next week.

    Bye for now

Sorry to butt in as I forgot to sign up for the challenge at the start of the month but was wondering......

I have a big american style fridge freezer & we're going away for approx 3.5 weeks in July. Is it worth emptying them out before we go and switching it off while we're gone? Will we save enough in electricity costs to make it worth the hassle?

    TIA

Oh Lordy! 11 days to go and the June budget is running tight at €500.52/€600.

The chest freezer is so full that I can barely close the lid and yet everyone claims there is nothing to eat!! OPEN THE LID AND LOOK AND PLAN AND DEFROST SOMETHING!! I swear I could knock my lot's heads together some days. There's hardly any biccies left AGAIN so if they don't bak they can go without!!

I'm eating leftover salads from the weekend for dinner with maybe an omelette. The rest of them can freezer dive and find something.

The omelette reminds me. My henny pennies are laying somewhere but not in the laying box - thanks to the dopey broody one who won't let them in. No eggs in over 2 weeks so there must be a massive clutch of them somewhere! So I will be that mad woman stalking hens around the field looking for the golden hoard of eggs!!

Unsure about this as never had one of these, I always empty my fridge when going away but never my freezer.. cos its always too full.

Do you know or can we find out approx how much yours takes to run for a week and then see if its worth while

Hello everyone! I have been absent for a bit but have pulled myself back as I need to have a tight budget for the next 6 months (minimum!) to get rid of my overdraft!

Budgeted £100 for June and already slightly over as we've had a couple of take outs that bf would usually pay for but I did this month as a treat/thank you to him!

Payday (and start of our new budget month) is the 25th though and we have plenty of food (plus bf is away from tomorrow until thurs!) so shouldn't need anything more. I am currently working on a grocery shop plan that should see me able to cut this even more - depends how much bf notices! Things like stretching spag bol sauces (he is FUSSY with these) by adding an extra tin of cheap chopped tomatoes etc. Plus it's summer now so lots of salads which are much cheaper! Lots to be thinking about tonight!

Well this is my first month of well and truly bust since doing GC. At nearly £200 already and we're hosting people for the next 2 weekends too!

Not really sure why it's gone so wrong other than we bought a big bulk of meat from the butchers and there's probably been a reasonable amount of alcohol too.

On the plus side, I'm having a lovely time!!!!! Not sure that's a good reason to be so bad this month though (entertainment and shopping (clothes) spends are also up!).

We've mealplanned and do not need to shop again until next Sunday:
Mon - duck dumplings (made with leftover roast duck from Sun) and dipping sauces.
Tue - spiced yoghurt marinated chicken thighs and salad
    Wed - lamb curry
    Thu - omelette and salad
Fri & Sat - eating out and Sat also hosting a cheese and port course at ours - cheese, crackers etc. already purchased

Oh bless Becs glad you are having a lovely time, I am too, I think sometimes you just need to be bad, cant be good always,

I went to buy new bras today and spotted a sign on the 99p store window, bacon 69p and 10 eggs 69p so of course I had to have a look. Bought 3 packs of bacon 350grms each but no eggs left. But thats over a killo of bacon for 2.07, will have a look for the eggs again tommorow.

I wonder if it was your local store only - overstocked. Good bargains.
