"Selling on behalf of a friend ..."

Listing reads like dealerese. "Vehicle also benefits from the standard specification ... Has had in excess of £12,000 lavished upon it ..."

Who is the owner? Why isn't he selling it himself? Who will you be dealing with over the transaction?

    And it's a Cat D.

I'd be very cautious about this one.

Will do, the bodykit he has added to the car is very expensive. around 2k along with the spray to match colour of car.

He seems genuine. He's replaced alot of things on the car, and has serviced it well. Says the car is used for car shows.

I might do an aa/RAC inspection to make sure everything is sound and nothing will bite me down the line.

My main question is, is 5800 worth it for the car, taking into consideration what he's done to it, millage and it's a cat d?

If there aren't enough alarm bells ringing now then please take your mum when you go and see it, she'll put you right
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical
  • Putting a sock down there will be £34,995 cheaper.

But seriously, this is how people get into financial difficulty. Aside from a house, If you cannot afford something - dont buy it.

Save a little bit longer and you can get one hell of a car for about £15k, and without the dreaded depreciation.

£5.8K? Are you mad? A chav'd cat d 2005 Polo Diesel with a body kit isn't worth four figures. A bodykit reduces resale value significantly because (a) they put repair costs through the roof, (b) they're often fitted badly, (c) they're often used to hide myriad horrors and (d) they're sh17.

Oh - just seen the thread I'm on. This troll attempt was more subtle so well done.
