Recently I paid just over £100 for a new tail section of exhaust, fitted. Your quote sounds very reasonable indeed.

    Eighth Anniversary Combo Breaker
    Got quoted for:
    New gasket
    New middle section of exhaust
Replacing rubber seal around oil tank
All parts and labor and VAT included
    Roughly £100

Does that sound about right? I have no idea lol!

Sounds reasonable to me as well. I can get full exhaust for my 306 for about £150 but then have to fit it and its a PITA job without a ramp.

Took it down the M1 and back today. Half an hour each way. Going slightly up hill the max I can do is 72! But down hill I can go 90+

I hope it did it some good!

I also washed it and found LOADS of paint from other cars. Uh oh! Not the best sign XD

the 1.3 endura fiesta is almost bullet proof.

I'll second that. We have a 1.3 Ka with that / duratec engine and it is absolutely solid. Very well made engines and gearboxes but the rest of the ka drops apart while you're driving lol.

The fiesta is a much superior model to the ka so I can't imagine why anyone would say no more than 10 miles. Absolutely absurd.

Many modern engines (ie mid 90s onwards) are very well made and are very reliable even for regular short journeys. Anything japanese, swiss, ford or german will have a solid engine. Anything french or italian and it'll be trouble.
  • 1.3 endura's suffer yellowing or mayo in the oil if doing only short trips.

if your only maxing out at full throttle 72MPH then you do have a problem.

in my fathers fiesta, ( on a private road) upto around 109 MPH with a little left in it to go.

different paint coming off was it used as a bumpercar?

every ford has its quirks, fiesta's tend to be sump plug leaks, and squeeks and odd smells and the coil springs especially mk5 and 6 fiesta's..

If you are in a hurry make sure you only go downhill. ;)

Were you in top gear at the time?

If so, try downshifting to 4th for the uphill bit...engine revs higher, thus making more power, to aid maintaining speed given weight of car and passengers....?

certainly, if I were going uphill on a motorway, and overtaking stuff, I'd be in 4th at least to give me more power, and speed options...

Once past & clear, then pop it into top and relax?

Any idea what problem? I don't mind not being able to go faster than that up hill (as I said, downhill I can go way faster and on a flat surface too) but if it indicates a bigger problem then I need to sort that.

may be nothing more than the effects of an over-geared top gear?

More likely to be a driver skill issue.....nothing particular to worry about, I think?

What is the fuel consumption like?

    Is it consistent?
