    :) Was well chuffed!

Went to the doctors - have now got a referral to the psychiatric unit  :embarasse

He was really nice - but I really didn't expect this - they will rite to me and then I guess I'll go in for a chat. Basically he said I could be a lot better than I am doing and that the prozac isn't doing the job alone. Ho hum.

Not really sure how I feel about it all -I actually said when he said about referring me - oh my god, you think I'm mad (no offence meant to anyone btw, this jsut jumped out) and then I sat there feeling about 12 and really stupid!

Actually I do feel quite down about it - why can't I just be normal.

  • Because nobody is normal! There is no normal!

I felt a bit like that when I went off on the sick last month. Luckily for me my best friend is a clinical psychologist and she taks a lot of sense. She was very reassuring.

Probably all that will happen is that you get to talk to a psychologist. At least you recognise that you need help and are taking steps to address it - that makes you more normal than people who just struggle on trying to cope.

Sorry, I'm making a mess of this - you know when you want to say soemthing and the words just don't come right...?

Plus - a flyladying, MSE, teacher - what could be more normal than that?? (Slightly biased opinion there!!)

You are normal!! You are certainly not mad - you just need help to get things back into balance. The main thing is that you are going to be able to get this help, so will soon be fighting fit on all levels!

  • Aww honey hug for you but seriously dont worry - we're all a bit do lally or we wouldnt be here would we eh! The problem is theres such a stigma with mental health services in this country that is prob what is making you feel edgy. Its great that you've been referred cos they'll give you some strategies for coping with stress, recognising triggers etc rather than the doc just drugging you up! This way so MUCH better. Trust me, I'm a social worker!!

I agre with you there - I think if he'd said (and it was renamed!!) mental health department, I'd feel less funny about it. Been searching on the internet on what he was saying - not sure if he's right, but it does seem to fit a little. I don't know! He thinks lithium might be more appropriate for me, which must mean he thinks I have some sort of bipolar disorder. Hmm. He has told me to start a mood diary, so that'll be good - as I have doe it a little as I thought it might be hormonal stuff, but it hasn't correlated at all with that so far.

Anyway, other stuff. Went to a 2nd hand toy sale at DD's school tonight - it was brilliant! Wish I'd known what it was like as I would have got rid of loads of our stuff there - price is split 50/50 between you and school, but they do all the work! We picked up some v cheap pressies for the kids (for now and xmas) including a kitchen for William - he LOVES it. :) I got DD a lovely Princess Fiona outfit with mask as well - she is in seventh heaven! Only £2 as well :)

Flipped at school today and had a bit of a rant at my Head of Department as he had been annoyed that I'd sent over a few students to get resources (I don't have my own classroom and am in 20 different classrooms over the 2 week timetable - ARGHHHHHH). So I said that if he had a problem, why don't I use his room and then there wouldn't be a problem. Think I might have been a little grumpy oops :) In fact, I know I was because as I left he told me how much he appreciated all my work in the department lol.

Got yr 7 parents eve in tues - I'm worrying as I just don't know all the kids names. i mean, I know the and everything and have marked books etc but names? No. I have about 110 yr 7s that I teach and I know I'd be a little put out if a teacher didn't know my kids name! Ah well. Will have to blag the best I can!

Just watching tv now with OH - well, I'm on the computer anyway!

Had to buy DD a new pair of shoes today - she fell AGAIN and I thought it migt be worth checking if the shoes were anything to do with it. All the support along the sides had gone - bit annoyed actually as they weren't really suitable for long thin feet (I didn't know) so £30 spent on a pair of very supportive shoes. Thank goodness for the clothes savings pot. Also have to pay school dinners arrears (oopsie!) but have the money aside for that too.

    Anyway, enough of my ramblings.

Hiya Sea. Just catching up on your thread. I don't think you're mad at all! Quite the contrary. I think seeing a psychiatrist will be a great opportunity to discuss your feelings with an expert and if it leads to better treatment, then great.

Well done for having a strop with the Head of Dept and good luck with the Parents' Evening. Since my DDs started secondary school I have been amazed by how well the teachers seem to know them when they must teach hundreds of kids each week. Or perhaps they're just good at faking.

Having a really nice day today - Oh is being really lovely (yes, it is a surprise!) and has cooked brunch. We're all off over to Leeds for a meal (it'll costs us about £15 in petrol, but the meal is being paid for by my kind of family over from the states so that's nice) and then back again.

Last night I was fretting about the whole dr thing and OH said he wouldn't have me any other way - makes life more interesting!!! lol! That's one way of putting it!

Kids are still sooo happy iwth the toys fro the toy sale - William is still playing with the kitchen (must be about 5 hours now!) and Sophia has been wearing her Princess Fiona dress a lot. She is now a pink slug however, so must go and get the kids changed for the meal :) Off to a place in leeds where they colour in the tablecloths and make their own pizza - never heard of it before!

Hope all are well - will be back later no doubt!

So glad you are having a good day. Mine is hectic as usual - OH has dragged himself off his sickbed and taken the children to the Snowdome at Milton Keynes for some ski thing pre-christmas bash. Skiing followed by all you can eat chinese! I have done two workshops and have to go and do the bar job soon. Can I come with you to colour in tablecloths instead?

  • aww what a lovely thing of OH to say - nothing like being loved for who you are, ideocyncracies & all! Bless him! I would try not to worry too much & see what happens - they often just go down a "try that...nope didnt work...try that" etc list, unless you are showing very manic tendencies in which case its fairly obvious! Great that you're getting help though, even though I appreciate its hard! Hope you have a good day out! Chucking it down here!
