Thanks Sea, that is really helpful. I think the science they are doing is double. They are also doing Media Studies as an extra (after school) and DD2 is doing Italian as well. I'll write down a list of things to find out at the parents evening - thanks very much.

My blood chilled a bit at your comment "when their enthusiasm drops in Yr 10" - is this inevitable? I've been surprised how enthusiastic and conscientious they have been so far... are they going to turn into Kevin-ettes?

Thanks a lot and I'll stop hijacking now!

Don't be daft - hijack away, just hope it's useful. I think that sometimes they can become a little arrogant of their ability in year 10 and if not sorted by teachers, they can start to slack thinking they don't need to do the work! I'm sure your two will be fine :D

So I've got some medicine from the chemists which has really helped the itching and she's now asleep on the sofa. Bless.

    Hi Sea
glad to see that you are having a happier new year. Ref the chicken pox, I found that piriton really did help, especially with my older one, who had it really bad.

    Hope Sophia feels better soon

Thanks Chev - that's what the pharmacist gave us and it's helped quite a bit. it's jsut a shame it's happened now as she can't go to her winter disco (paid for) or to Splash Landings (paid for by s-i-l!). M-i-L has offered to have her so the rest of us can go, I think we'll do that as it's only one night and she's already looking forward to the sleepover at nanny's!

Hi Sea...give those lovely kiddies a hug from me and sorry Soph has chickenpox..hope she gets better soon and of course shes looking forward to sleeping at nannys...that's what we're here for...JJ is stopping next week as his mummy is going to a party so I volunteered to have him ..can't wait...
  • aww big hugs for Sophia...calomine lotion can help soote the itching! Poor thing. Try & stop her picking at teh scabs as I did when I had it and got impetigo & still have a scar - right between my eyes/top of nose as a result! Yes it will be great when the lump goes as it is a worry as (a) they've never tested it with a biopsy and they can turn nasty and you wouldnt know until it was too late! Plus its so much bigger than it was! She promised theyd do it within the next two months whch is fine. My mum offered to pay to have it removed privately but not worth it - been there for ages and another couple of months wont hurt! The next few weeks is manic with work too so I wouldnt want it done for a month as I'll need a week off after apparently. Not sure how I'll manage to sit though! Will be interesting to say the least! Mum is booked for taking me (thankfully I get to do it as a day patient)and will stay a couple of days so that's sorted - we are very close & she doesnt fuss which is good! Anyway, hijack over!

Ouch, poor Sophie! Hope she gets over it soon, and it's not too stressful for you all.
