ooooh - what an annoying place!! Be such a relief to be rid.
All fine here - not much has happened really. I have a sneaking suspicion that Sophia might have chicken pox but it might jsut be a viral thingy that's going round that shows up with a few spots that look like the pox! Will just have to wait and see.

Whatever Sophia has, I hope she is not grouchy with it, and everyone gets a good night's sleep.

HI Sea, hope Sophia is OK. chickenpox can be nasty but they have to go through it and I believe it's good for their immune system to get these childhood illnesses.
ISOM - sorry to hear about the lump, that must have been a big worry. Glad it's going to be sorted and hope you recover quickly from the surgery.
Quick hijack back to my GCSE preoccupation (well you did ask...) I believe they have to do 5 core subjects and pick 4 options from a list. My DDs are set on doing PE and Art, which only leaves two options, so either history or geography and either French or Spanish. However they are also talking about Graphic Design... and Music.... Of course I want them to do what they enjoy, but I am also anxious about dropping all the academic subjects when they are very able students. What advice did you give the anxious parents at your Year 9 evening? And what should I ask at ours, which is in March?

Things are quite good, work is busy, life is busy but Bea is gorgeous as ever. We started on a DMP back in July and its changed our lives! Dh is starting a new job soon so hopefully we will have a lot more money to throw at the debt and get rid of it quicker!
Hows things with you? Do you think Sophia has CP? Bea had it feb last year...was horrible

Well, really there isn't much they can drop now that would severely limit their choices at AS level really - apart from if they wanted to continue with a language etc. are they doing triple or just dual award science? If wanting to take Biology as an AS Level they would benefit from doing the triple. Otherwise, they can take most anything else back up again if they drop it now - history, geography, RS, etc as the AS levels have to be at such a level that anyone can join at that level, so no specific knowledge is required really. Our students have been advised to pick the subjects that they enjoy, would be stimulating and they can envision doing for the next two years. As my specialism is RS, I was obviously explaining this a lot to the parents, but also that no matter what the students chose, they had to enjoy it, or when their enthusiasm drops in yr 10, they may well end up regretting it big time!
A big consideration though is a balance of coursework/exam courses - some are 100% coursework, some 50/50 etc. If they were to choose graphics, music, PE and Art, that would be a LOT of coursework - do they work well with coursework? It will be worth checking out the proportions for each of the GCSEs they are looking at so there is a balance - will save you a lot of nagging later on??
I don't really know what else to say really - hope this has been useful!Things are quite good, work is busy, life is busy but Bea is gorgeous as ever. Glad your going ok - don't know how I missed the DMP!It is wonderful, isn't it? Great about the new job - when i went up to full time and the payments jumped up, it was such a bonus to see the figures going down more quickly
I think Sophia might have it, which meas William will probably get it, but better now than when they're older I reckon - it's meant to be the younger the better, isn't it.
