Now don't you start all that again you make me so cross!

Don't get cross please I have had enough of that lately. You just said I have not got the right skills or anything so really all my struggle for years and years and years is just wasted. How do you think that makes me feel all the nights I have sat up struggling and in great upset were for nothing?

It is possible for other people everrything always is but not for me as I am useless you tell me, my parents tell me, employers tell me.

I have told you about this self pity nonsense, you need a good shake and a kick up the backside! We are not saying that you are useless everyone here have been suggesting ways you can get a job and work up from that - people who have many years experience who know what they are talking about, but you come back with answers as if you know best! You have only tried for 1 job and you are saying that no one will employ you!

What would you call it then?

    Office dogs body.

We have an an office manager and an office assistant in our office of 35. The office manager runs the show, the assistant helps her, and also acts as an admin to the sales team.

The office assistant - the more junior of the two roles - is great. She speaks three languages and is learning a fourth. She has initiative. She wants to learn. She regularly attends conferences with the sales team and makes pitches to prospective buyers. She knew nothing about the industry when she started, and now knows a huge amount and lives in a nice flat in Clapham with her boyfriend, travels a lot, and wears lovely clothes. She has no degree.

To call her a "dogs body" would be an insult. She is a highly valued member of the team.

I don't get you Phil - first you say that you want a job, and then you say that you don't want to be a dogs body. It's like you (or perhaps more accurately, your parents) are expecting you to walk into a top job that is perfect for you as soon as you graduate. It doesn't work like that. As I said before, I flipped burgers for a couple of months whilst in possession of a masters in Maths. I actually really enjoyed it, it was a nice change from my degree.

Phil, you are the one who keeps telling people on here that you are useless. You've mentioned it in every thread you have started and every thread you have hijacked. If you say something enough times, people will start to believe you.

From what you have said, employers have not described you as rubbish. They have just offered their jobs to people who had most relevant experiece. And you know what SP? I bet the candidates who beat you, don't spend tehir every waking hour on MSE. That guy beat you to the job because he wasn't too precious to gain prior work experience in a shop, or where ever it was that he learnt to use a till.

Now listen here, I had an accident about 14 years ago and because of that I was unable to continue with my job and so at the age of around 30 did I say all my years were wasted? I actually went and did a 2 year diploma in office admin (completed in 1 year) plus took all the RSA typing and word processing exams and did a computer course - I ended up getting a job in the BBC. I could have sat in the corner and said my life wasn't worth living! You are only 22 now so get a grip.

Okay, chill chill, so basically all these yearrs of struggle I have had sitting up until 2-3 am writing essays and doing homework is completely wasted and I am now no less employable than someone with no GCSEs and so I could have saved myself all this pain and just never bothered all these years and I would have been still have been in the same position as I am now.

That is hugely upsetting that I have tried so hard all these years and it is all worthless now.

With the truth. The truth is I should have walked out of school in May 2002 and said I am never going to sit any qualifications and I will save myself all the great struggle of going to university and A levels and sitting GCSEs. I would be no worse off than I am now. The is a soul crushing reality.
