There is no reason to have a state broadcaster, the BBC should be privatised.
Having been subjected to TV in the US I disagree. The BBC makes programmes that aren't viewer grabbers. That doesn't make sense for commercial broadcasters. Remember the TV licence pays for their radio and internet too...0 -

Privatising the BBC would reduce to nil the amount of innovative "experimental" TV the corporation has been so famous for down the years.
The BBC is probably the most excellent example of Public Service Broadcasting in the world. It would be a tragedy to lose it to commercial concerns.0 -
If it wasn't for BBC programmes, half of the channels on Sky wouldn't have anything to broadcast."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0

These would be the UKTV channels, that are half-owned by the BBC?0 -

Sky News are hardly impartial.Cornucopia wrote: »Sky News don't have a duty of impartiality?
I'd argue the BBC don't always give both sides of the story either...0 -
It is very easy to get angered at the TV Licence fee for some but I should point out that we are only talking just over £12 per month. My Council is taking £96 per month from me and that annoys me more. Have you seen the state of the roads?0

The UKTV channels are a major proportion of the Sky subscription, but other channels such as many of the Documentary channels also heavily feature BBC made programmes, as do Sony TV (Hustle/Spooks), and Lifestyle channels, eg Discovery Real Time (Homes under the Hammer/Antiques Road Trip, etc), Home, Good Food HD to name a few."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry.
