Always Packing Really Inexpensive Lunches - Apr 2013 - Take your lunch to work thread

  • Hello

I took 2 lunches to work this week 8 more to go.

On Tuesday 2nd and Thursday 4th April. Tuesday's lunch was a baxter's chunky vegetable soup with a bread roll. This was a bit bland and samey, so next time I take one of these soups I'm going to add herbs to it.

Thursday's lunch was tastier, it was chopped ham, cucumber, red pepper, Mediterranean couscous followed by seedless black grapes.

Back to work tomorrow after a week off and have yet to decide what to bring! Feeling a bit unmotivated tbh... Gone off sandwiches a bit so will see what else I can bring that is interesting... Plus fruit/yoghurt etc... Have a good rest of day everyone!

  • A first post me as I have been lurking in the shadows. I take breakfast and lunch to work as I start travelling at about 6.40 and cant face breakfast at 6am! So tomorrow 2 slices brown bread for toast then lunch is HM onion and tomato soup followed by chicken (sunday roast left overs)salad, a pear and an apple, strawberry youghurt and maybe a packet of crisps. sounds alot but am on the go all day and if im hungery my mood becomes evil!

    Count me in.

Although, I can safely say I won't be trying some of those sandwich combinations. Bananas are not supposed to go in sandwiches :)

I haven't had a banana sandwich in years - but I used to love them!

    Hello and welcome getting-there-slowly :j

I know exactly what you mean about not being able to eat first thing.

mrsdee - it's bad when you can't find the inspiration to get LTW motivation - you can do it mrsdee, you can do it :D

I didn't do very well last week.

I fainted Tuesday from what I suspect was low blood sugar, so I triend to ensure I ate well the rest of the week. I don't have a lot in at the moment as I need to go shopping, so eating well meant lunches in the canteen or from the salad bar.

I was quite sucessful though in not popping down to WHSmiths for snacks in the afternoon.

I've been to Holland and Barrett this weekend and bought some nibbles to take in small portions to nibble on in the afternoon instead.

I am going to try and go shopping Tuesday or Wednesday so I can take lunch in Thurs and Fri this week.

I am going to try and make some mini chicken kebabs and take with some salad.

I'll be making the cous cous and happy tomatoes!

I've just made paella with chorizo for LTW. As usual its turned into 8 portions not 4!

Loving this thread. ow back at work full time. OH loves to eat sandwiches, but even buying and making at home is £2 a day.

I used to work where there was a salad bar for £2 for a hug pot. I didn't mind eating there once a week. Travelled and got expenses fr lunch for other days.

Now office based and I prefer to avoid bread,so all these ideas really good!
