    Hello all.

Decided to buy a mini oven yesterday as a temporary solution until we decide what's happening with the oven. If it is beyond repair, we're looking at £300+ for a new one (electricals are one thing I won't buy second hand) and whilst we can afford to, I'd really rather not with being so close to being df and having the hols to save up for. So bought one from Mr Argus and used some nectar points so only cost £45. Got a £5 voucher which I've used to replace the cafetiere the cat smashed last night.

Food shopping today and spent £65 but that included £5 on candles. I love watching tv/dvd in the dark with just a few candles for light, romantic night in ;)

£5 of change went into the savins pot. I've £12 left out of the budget for the week

    Another SFD for me :)

Spent some time working on my spreadsheet last night. Basically if me and OH live fairly frugally (ie like we are now) then the joint loan can be cleared around November :D Then i can really ramp up paying off the car, and clear that around June 2014. Thats only 14 months away - not too long is it?

I had been burying my head in the sand regarding the car - a bit annoyed at having to take on extra debt. But, by working hard i'll have paid it off within 18 months of its purchase IF i stick to my plan.

The plan doesnt leave a lot of wiggle room so we'll have to be careful but fingers crossed we can do it. Once debt free we can start thinking about a bigger house and starting a family :D

Well done jonsey a plan is always the first step!

What can I say? Lots of spending here that need to add to my signature. Have had head in sand last few days so sat down and worked it out. Its not as bad as feared - guilt of this thread and Kat coming back to scold me must have kept me a bit in check. Most spending down to things for kids that although are not basic nneeds essential they are for holiday tomorrow and just add tobthe joy is books for both (charity shop) and first rolling mini case for dd2 so just means last 17 days of month will be breath in tight time! Oh also bought a case for my new tablet but I saw that as reasonably essential although could have made one - if there were more hours in the day!

Anyway I have a couple of days kid free and will be very tight on my budget as I am happy to wonder and explore without spending - will have cakethough! :)

Spoke with bank just now to check balances - still all in order! And they needed to authorise my visa debit for use abroad which that account is my spends and I don't know card numbers for others, anyway they offered to authorize my credit card too for abroad and I said no! Very proud f myself as have no spare cash as all other moneys accounted for one way or another and know too tempting to spend when on holiday and now I have no choice but to be good! Prevention better than cure and all that! :)

    Hi all,

These posts fly by:D. Yesterday was another spend day but today SFD. I did 4 hours overtime today which is the first overtime we've had in about 5 years. I'm hoping it's about £50 which will go towards my credit card.

    Food: £15.27/£80
    Petrol: £45/£160
    Entertainment & odds: £0/£300
    SFD: 3/20

Hi everyone and good luck with this months challenge. I shall be lurking and hopefully back on board in May.

March was rubbish for us. We had the cam belt (plus 2 tyres) go on the car at £1000 then the alternator went at £250 and then as hubby was drinking up the motorway after snow a slab of ice came off a lorry and smashed the windscreen. He was fine but shaken and the driver stopped and admitted liability but we are currently £75 excess down there too.

To top it all, I got a tummy ache which persisisted and ended up in hospital last Friday and had a laparoscopy and my appendix out on Saturday! I am waiting for some text results from samples taken during the procedure (I won't go into detail) but am waiting for an outpatient gyne app and I still feel rubbish (although improving) from the op. I keep feeling tired, nauseous and fuzzy headed as well as being in pain. This seems normal and I was dispatched mid week with pain killers and anti sickness meds.

Lastly, we should have gone on holiday today to Majorca but I am not fit to travel and anyway the insurance wouldn't have coved us for anything relating to he outstanding test results. We have cancelled and luckily do have insurance so will end up just the £150 excess worse off. We are all disappointed of course.

I have no idea where my finances are right now! Having said that, I haven't been spending much bar an online food shop which came yesterday. I am not drinking alcohol which also keeps costs down. Before I am back at work, I will get on track and budget for May!

Good luck with the April challenge folks and I will keep popping in to cheer you on :)

Kat - hope you had a lovely birthday and are enjoying Italy.

    Much love xx

Evening everyone, hope you all had a nice day. We've had lovely sunshine all day today:T

I have had a spend day but all budgeted for. Spent £24.65 on weekly food shop but I don't need anything else now. I have bought extra bread and milk as we ran out this week. We also went out to lunch with family for Dad's birthday and came away 63p under planned budget. Spent £29.32 and claimed for 2 free drinks by signing up to the pub's newsletter:money:

I may have an attempt at crochet tonight. I managed to successfully knit one baby sock last night so hopefully I can manage a few more :rotfl:

Btw does anyone know how to put pictures on your posts. I would like to put pictures of my successful OS/DFW projects on my diary.

Purplejay - poor thing you, hope you feel better soon. Well we went to pizza express, saved another £60 using vouchers then oh thinks he prob got a parking ticket for overstaying! Then went into town, bf not feeling very well so only went into a couple of shops. Bought an unplanned outfit for ds. I'm a sucker for George pig stuff from peppa pig as ds is called George. Got a top and trousers (did need new trousers) for £13. Then was good only got glue to fix dd boots so she can wear them again for school and a lunchbox cube with different sections - already have one for dd and is brilliant. Last day of hols and bf visit tomorrow so likely to not go anywhere but park, might just get 2nd sfd unless I get sent to mr m for lunches for the week. Have a good evening all. Very impressed by all the crafting. I like a bit of jewellery making myself.

  • Evening all.
Blimey, page 13 already, apologies for not getting on here for a few days, will catch up after posting.
Well today was my 3rd SFD!!! Although the last few days has included having to buy a new mobile, mine got stolen:mad:. Went to see a friend, and we decided last minute to take her kiddies to the cinema, I ended up paying £13 on sweets and drinks (blooming rip off) although to be fair she did buy my ticket and chippy tea. Also have had to get petrol and a few bits of food.
On a lighter note, I have got a little of bit of money coming to me, did £2.50 each way on the runner up on the National:T:T:T.
    Off to catch up xxx

    Evening Everybody!

Today ended up being a spend day after all. A friend got in touch who was having a tough time so I opted to go and see them and took along obligatory comfort food. Whilst I was spending anyway - decided to stock up on more fruit/veg/milk for the rest of the week.

Food: £15.80 (budgeted £20 per week)
Spends: £7.09 (budgeted (£20 per week)
Fuel: £25.00 (budgeted £50 per month)

I've adjusted my monthly totals - and still very much on track
