    Could you just be trolling for reactions here? You think you are right, others think you are wrong... It's a £3.99 product - pick yourself up and move on! The time, effort and anxiety you are probably causing yourself over £3.99 is stupid. Surely you have more to worry about than this?

    Everyone, without fail, have said you require proof of purchase, you've even mentioned it yourself yet you say they are wrong!

    Maybe they would but thats the choice of Asda and M&S but because they do it/ IF they do then its ot enshrined in retail law that everyone has to follow the rules of Asda.

    Which is what we have been saying.

    I appear to have a pretty closed mind on this, the law tells me that because the goods are faulty that I am entitled to my money back. Without the receipt I considered it fair to ONLY request an exchange, the quality is actually not good enough and I would prefer to buy something better.

    I was accompanied by a friend who is prepared to confirm that I purchased the box. This would be a MEGA inconvenience, to collect him and go to the store, have a confrontation with the manger, threaten court action, have my friend make a sworn statement, FOR £3.99 !!!!

    What I am thinking is that faulty goods are returned, by the retailer to the manufacturer either for a refund or replacement, therefore ALDI cannot lose by offering an exchange.

    ALDI have no financial benefit in not replacing faulty goods, only the negative impact of alienating customers.

    I have used the ALDI store concerned for many years £30-£40 per week and for exchanging a faulty item they have their own staff under strict instructions, no receipt no exchange no matter what.

    So the law is on my side and should I wish to take county court action, with sworn statements or witnesses, I will win.

    What a waste of time.

    IF you have proof of purchase and they refuse to exchange/refund/repair (at their discretion) then yes the law would be on your side - but as you don't appear to have that then I wouldn't bet on it.

    I have offered my own customers total value and total service for almost 30 years. I am retired, I look for entertainment if that means court action to prove I am right and that the law is on my side, then yes, my time is worth little. I will not be walked over, I will not be pushed around and believe that the more people that fight the better.

    I have a witness, what I have said is although that is sufficient for the law it is something of an extreme to have to take him specially to the store.
