I've just stated what it's for......
In that video the driver was fully justified as the other driver had clearly not seen them.
This is exactly what im talking about though, someone posts a video with one driver clearly in the wrong and ya'll turn on the innocent party.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

There is a word - not a pretty word. VIGILANTE. Characteristics of vigilantes include: assuming they have the moral right to sit in judgement of others; taking steps to identify and pursue those they perceive to be offenders; acting as kangaroo courts and meting out inappropriate and excessive punishments. The word seems to apply quite aptly to some of the people hanging around here. They should appreciate that the police have little truck with vigilantism.Life is like a box of chocolates - drop it and the soft centres splash everywhere0

So where's the issue?
So what he hasn't seen the op but he is in front. Is he likely to reverse into the op? No, so no need for the horn.0 -

It's 'something like' that, just not that.
98dB + 130dB = 130.2dB0 -
Very handy things to have in terms of insurance, no one ever admits to their failings nowadays. However those sharing them online fall into two categories, showing what buffoons are on the roads for our general entertainment and the other sector are the wannabe hobby bobbies. Get down to your local police station and ask about vacancies, they'll give you a hat and everything.0

I think you should consider changing your signature tag - If you had bothered to read post #27, you would see that the poster stated he used the horn not to warn the other driver of his presence, but to let him 'know he had done wrong and think twice next time.' That is a rebuke (look it up!) and is contrary to the highway code.

The Focus, clearly bad driving but evidence not good enough. Re: your video description, I don't see that the oncoming car was affected in anyway. not seriously anyway. It was, however, clearly a dangerous move because of the crossroads.
The Garic tanker,
The tanker is a good driver -evidenced by the previous rbt he was indicating left-
The road sign at 0:21 indicates only 3 exits A18 (minor road), A630, Supermarket
The second rbt, first exit is a minor exit. The main through route -second exit- is straight on. There is a 3rd exit for supermarket.
The tanker is not indicating which should indicate to you that he is going straight on, i.e. he is staying on the main road. i.e. he could want the A630
Highway Code says that you should give large vehicles a wide berth especially on rbts.
There are no lane arrow markings on entrance to the roundabout.
You cannot assume that the tanker is turning left.
By taking that lane the tanker is not committing himself to turn left
That lane is an appropriate lane to take for "straight on" because it is not marked to indicate the contrary.
By squeezing yourself into the middle lane between two vehicles to enter onto a 2 laned rbt (where there is no compulsion on the driver to your left to turn left ) you are asking for trouble.
You are effectively putting yourself into an 'overtaking position' and you have no right of way over the vehicle to your left.
Very stupid of you.
And then you try to cause that driver problems with his employer when it was entirely your fault* You don't allow comments on your video for people like me to set you straight, so the employer when given a link to the video will not be able to read and be better informed by the comments. let's hope the employer has better road awareness skills than you do.
If you want to complain to someone you should complain to the highways authority.
Wayne's world
I'd like to see the 2 mins prior to this clip and the 5 mins after
It was an unnecessary use of the horn, I wouldn't have beeped in that situation. There was no impending danger.
*There is case law which says that on an unmarked roundabout (unmarked meaning no compulsion on any driver to follow a particular route) A driver in the left hand lane (the outside of the rbt) can legitimately pass the 1st exit but that driver must then take extreme caution before passing a second exit.
Perhaps someone here can inform the Garic business of this thread.0 -
Todays incident was a chap in a Focus over taking on double white lines on a junction, just getting back in time before an oncoming car had to take avoiding action. http://youtu.be/3j4hLggaVdM
Couldn't believe it but should be used to it by now !
Ive had this cam just over a week and this is the second incident, had one yesterday when a truck driver was in the wrong lane and then had a go at me for being in the correct lane. I have been touch with the company concerned in this case, had a reply back from them this morning saying they will look at their footage of the altercation and get back to me.
im not a dangerous driver, but i think people who collect dashcam footage and post them online are a bit sad.
There's a guy on youtube called snowcatxx87 who loves to berate other people on the road, for the most minor "violation". There was a time when a woman was crossing the zerbra crossing and starting walking a little late. The traffic got green lighted so he beeped at the pedestrian and cut right across in front of the pedestrian. (This was in canada, so they have slightly different videos).
Well what ended up hapening was that the canadian authories called him to the police station for traffic violation from his own video.
Nobody is a saint driver 100% of the time, we all lapse in judgement and might have bad days so we do a manouvre we shouldn't do. There is "dangerous driving" according to the rule book [actually just bad driving] and there is actual dangerous drive. The car overtaking on the solid white line through the central reservation wasn't dangerous IMO. The roads were clear and the car in front was driving too slow.
I dont think the driver was driving dangerously here at all, the roads are clear and he went for it. The only reason why you posted it and tried tio name and shame him is because he overtook you earlier and you got butthurt.0 -

Did you use the horn because he cut you up or because he was on the phone.
Neither would be the right thing to do but can understand why you would if it was for being on the phone.
As for cutting you up, did he really? you didnt have to change speed or direction so there really wasnt an issue0 -

The double whites are there for a reason. It's a junction. There is a white car on the left waiting to pull out, if he was going right and decided to go for it, because the other driver inront of the focus was going slowish....then you can easily imagine a serious impact would occur.. because he would not see the focus overtaking and the focus would not see the other car starting to cross over the junction until it's too late. ..even if the white car had decided to floor it and turn left it would have caused the focus serious trouble.

The focus overtook with the big green junction sign in plain view, he's then passed 2 SLOW road marking 2 keep left arrows, and a Junction hazard triangle sign. and the double whites.0
