I wonder if someone could give me some information :

I have rejoined TCB, after my membership lapsed and find that it now has two types of membership, Classic and Plus; new members automatically being enrolled for a trial of the latter.

From reading FAQs, it appears that Plus pays a higher percentage than Classic, but does take your first £5 of cashback. Also, it appears that the percentages quoted to people, who are either not members or are not logged in, are the rates for Plus memberships and those on Classic, see a lower rate when they log in.

Before joining and when enrolled for Plus, I see the rate for Medion , without a voucher, is 3.3%. Could someone on Classic or a staff member tell me what the Medion offer on Classic is please ?

You are correct, TCB enroll you into Plus membership and if you want normal (classic), then you have to opt out of Plus.
Classic members usually get a 1% top-up on rates and Plus 5% top-up on rates. So in normal circumstances, you would really need to earn around £125+ in cashback per year to make it worthwhile. That's actual payable cashback and not just tracked.
You've probably asked the question at the wrong time regarding Classic and Plus rates for Medion and others, as TCB have now matched a competitor, Quidco, offering all members a 10% top-up. Normally, the Medion rate (no voucher code) would be a 3% flat rate and a top-up added, so Classic 3.03% and Plus 3.15%. As you have quoted, it's now 3.3% for all members, exactly the same rate as Quidco (ie matched). So, Plus members could argue they are losing out as they are receiving the same rates as Classic members, who don't pay an annual fee.
I am a Plus member, but I use TCB mainly for high value cashback (insurances, phone contracts etc), so I go well over £125 cashback per year. I have to fight for it, but that's another story!
Hope that helps a little, but don't forget to check out discount code sites as the discount is immediate and may be better and save you money. Sometimes you can obtain cashback when using an approved discount code, albeit with a lower level of cashback.

    Hi Everyone,

@Steve1500 – Thanks for that, I will reply before the end of the day.

@ B_M – Can I ask if you have taken out the National Lottery after clicking through TopCashback?

@ teddysmum – At this present moment, all members are getting a 10% bonus and therefore this is the rate it will be whether you are Plus or Classic.

@ rich_shot2003 –As you would expect regularly speak with the people who power the groceries section of the app and are keeping an eye on how things are progressing. The whole concept is fairly new and while we understand bugs are a pain, with such a huge technological change in systems the road may not always be smooth but we will always do our best to keep everything running as smooth as we can. I am sorry recently there have been a few blips.

    Best wishes,
    Matt

    In other news - :)

    Hi There,
In regards to your Plusnet cashback, we have been investigating this further and discovered this was due to an error on Quidco’s, part.
We have found that the Quidco link you clicked through on this occasion meant you took out an additional discount from Plusnet.
As a goodwill gesture we are now going to pay the declined cashback to you so you do not have to miss out on this occasion.
This should show in your account within the next 72 hours and I hope this is a more satisfactory resolution for you.

I said at the time apparent Plusnet fiasco only appeared to affect Quidco members in the same way as all the posts I have seen on MSE regarding Co-operative Bank confirmed then declined apparent fiasco all relate to TCB members ;)

No prizes for guessing what some TCB members are hoping for Christmas - clue is within subject of this post. :snow_laug

Highest cashback rates are no consolation to those TCB members who dont receive advertised/promoted cashback even more so when the transaction concerned has been "confirmed" - subsequently change to declined.

So I would be better off buying via Quidco, as the cashback won't be reduced by £5 for having Plus membership (which new customers seem to be stuck with for a month ) ?

Also, T&Cs for Medion say not in conjunction with any other offers. Is this outside offers eg vouchers or does it refer to reductions (nor student specials) on Medion's site? I ask as the laptop I'm interested in is reduced from £699 to £649 .

Yes, it was taken with the TCB 'exclusive' £27 promotion that had many tracking issues. Some tracked three times (remember), then it stopped tracking. It was finally admitted there was an error and transaction did appear after a few days. A bit of a fiasco?
But, the 7 weeks and 4 days expected payment time for this has well past. Strangely though, the stats haven't adjusted? 12 weeks today, so already over 50% longer than 'average'. Pointless putting in or adding to a ticket as all I'll get is 'wait four to six weeks'.
I hope you agree, that if members have to wait 100% longer than 'average', then they have been let down and let down badly? Hopefully it won't come to that, but best to be be prepared. Reviews, recent reviews, aren't good, hence why the stats are 'false' (putting it mildly.
Hoping the hard-working TCB team resolve this and soon.

A search of the TCB site didn't take me to anything linking to Amazon.

'Up to' 30% top-up for Plus members, but it looks like the full 30% has been added to TCB's Talktalk mobile £30 offer making a sim only deal £39 cashback.
This is still less that Quidcos £44 rate, which only includes a 10% top-up.
So, would TCB match Quidcos rate and add a 30% top-up? That would make it £57.20.
I noticed the rate is due to change tomorrow on TCB, but does that mean the 30% will be dropped, or is it TCB's turn to up the Talktalk rates? As most will know, the rates yo-yo. A higher rate may be worth using Quidco, because they'll match and add a 10% top-up.
But, for clarity, would TCB add a 30% top-up by using the 'highest cashback guarantee'?
