"Literal definition" of cashback as quoted from https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/cashback is correct

Hence when people complain to company direct/initiate small claims court action/money claim online he/she "receives" advertised/promoted cashback.

    Key literal word is "receive"

    https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=receives&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-ab&gfe_rd=cr&ei=qd8NWKPNKc3DaJTqs8gB

    "Literal definition" of "dreamer" ;)

    https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=dreamer+definition&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-ab&gfe_rd=cr&ei=BuENWIS8JIHEaIGOpogP

Hence why I said I 'wasn't' quoting a literal definition.

    Lol.
Lots going on here. Just catching up.
First of all, take very little notice of what Matt (TCB) posts on here. Maybe his hands are tied and he's limited, or just plain useless.
Cashback not guaranteed? It can't be guaranteed for a few reasons, ie, returns, cancelled sales etc. But for genuine purchases it must be guaranteed.
This nonsense of the cashback being paid to someone else (which is never confirmed) is rubbish. If it happens, then the wrong person has been paid.
When you click to a merchant from a site, there is an electronic trace which is dated and can be confirmed. That shows where you made your initial click from. Yes, you may try and be deceived, especially by TCB.
But, when Matt tells you there is nothing further TCB can do to obtain your legitimate cashback, he is so, so wrong. TCB could take legal action against affiliate network and or merchant. How many times have TCB done that? TCB are 'in bed' with these networks and wouldn't dare upset them, it could be very costly.
But, that doesn't stop the individual from taking action/s. First stop is to issue a complaint direct to the merchant and if possible copy your complaint to the CEO.
You also have regulatory bodies (FOS, OFCOM etc etc etc.) along with ASA and Trading Standards. Small claims is also a possibility and one that many have had to take and won. Matt won't advise you of these options, hence take very little notice of what he claims. He's biased.
Ask the FOS or FCA if cashback for a genuine purchase is guaranteed? Matt's replies and the responses from the regulatory bodies differ. Who would you believe?

If you are not prepared to put in the effort and do TCB's work for them, then TCB really isn't for you. Have a look at sites that are more customer focused and that do offer cashback guarantees (most merchants).
Imutual for example, where sometimes the rates are better than TCB or Quidco.
    http://www.imutual.co.uk/help/4/1561
So, it can be done and is.

My SSE is moving, but only after a threat that I'd be going down the mis-selling route on the 1st November. But, it's still a mess.
20th July - took out a TCB 'exclusive' rate for SSE Broadband - £73.50.
Tracked rapidly at £42 (still at pending). Claim in within an hour.
£31.50 missing, but claim accepted and showing as £30 confirmed (£1.50 short despite paying the TCB Plus membership fee).
I'm going to leave this now until 1st December and if the £73.50 hasn't been paid, I will start the mis-selling claim.
What's wrong is, this is a tied contract (18 month) and I'd be penalised for cancelling. That's why the correct amount should have been confirmed within the 'cooling off period' and not some 100 days or so later.

This is what to expect when dealing with TCB and is not unusual.

On the 1st March 2017, if my More Than insurance hasn't been paid, I will be challenging many aspects of TCB's site and adverts etc along with the promotional material of financial products. Lack of advice will be one avenue, but not exclusive to that.
But, the week before 1st March, I will submit a ticket to TCB asking for ALL options available to challenge what I'll be considering as mis-selling of a financial product purchase (FOS states 4 months max for cashback promotions to be paid). The last time, TCB just paid me out, possibly to shut me up and stated it was a 'goodwill gesture'. I'll advise if they try that again.

    Good luck all.
No payments from financial products from cash back sites? Put in a complaint direct and if they don't resolve your issue, head straight to the financial ombudsman - it costs the company £550 in referral fees, win or lose.

I've read some of your posts and if you believe the 'cashback isn't guaranteed' theory that TCB want you to believe, then go for it. TCB love members like you.
But, think logically and get the advice from regulatory bodies.
Who's advice would you rely on?

You aren't related to Matt are you? :D

    I won`t hold my breath.
It shouldn`t be my idea anyway.

Any reputable company would make the fact that cashback is NOT guaranteed as visible, clear, and precise as possible and not try to bury it in the small print (if it is indeed there)

You say it`s in the T&C and I have ask you for the exact paragraph and line but you failed to answer.

You say it`s displayed when clicked through to a retailer but it`s not.

Why don`t TCB want to be crystal clear about the fact that cashback is not guaranteed?

No advertising laws are being broken and I would say TopCashBack and Quidco are the only reputable cashback companies.

I took the liberty of answering your question a few pages back and directed you to exactly where it is stated on the Argos page you mentioned. It took me seconds and is certainly not hidden by any means.

    t&cs are crystal clear... IMO

Maybe A.D is a "real TCB member" who has appeared on TCB - TV - Advert or is hoping to :rotfl:

I deal with regulatory compliance every day, but thanks for the advice.

No, I am just not a self-entitled bureaucrat and choose to see these sites as the Brucey bonuses they are.

Is the snap & save app playing up again Or is it still teething problems.

Just noticed that three state earned but don't appear on my account & the other one which was rejected because the date wasn't visible, but won't allow you to re-snap without re scanning the barcode.

Oddly, on the same receipt, was another item that passed inspection!

May I suggest, that if you have more than one item on the receipt, just add a feature of scan another barcode

    How do you know?
    Maybe it needs testing.
The advert goes on about getting cashback but nowhere in the ad or the small wording at the bottom of the screen does itsay "cashback is not guaranteed".

You should ask yourself why are TCB not making it crystal clear about the fact either on their home page or their link at the top of the home page "About cashback".

They have a link "about cashback" but no mention of it not being guaranteed.
So they are not telling you the full facts of "about cashback".

Maybe if you viewed cashback more seriously :)
