Socialising - what do you lot do?

The last time DH and I went to the pub was last October and that was for a meal out with friends! When we have friends saying they're back home visiting, we have them over to ours for a drink and they seem perfectly happy with that! We also have friends who've just had a baby so they're not too well off either, so we plan cheap walks out and picnics by the river and go over to each other's houses and play on the playstation and everyone's happy!Official DFW Nerd Club #20  Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts

We're not DFW but we have just bought our first house together and it needs loads of work doing so every penny we have is going towards that.
As for socialising, we tend to enjoy our nights out more now that they're less frequent, it makes us really look foward to them, rather than just going to the same old places week in week out. We have night out together for occasions like our birthdays or anniversary but generally DP's nights are when his team are playing at home, then him and the lads go for a curry and a few drinks afterwards and mine are when its someone's birthday, out for a meal with the girls then into town somewhere we can dance. I don't mind not drinking (bit of a lightweight!
) so i'll drive and thats even cheaper. I don't care as long as i can dance the night away
Some times we go over to DP's brothers house and take the booze and they cook the meal or they come to us. We put the kids to bed, DP and BIL watch footy or play playstation and me and SIL drink wine and put the world to rights. Same with my cousin and her fiancee, though they've no kids so i get my mam to have Leah when we go there.
Asda curries and chinese are good for nights in, cheaper than a takeaway but less work than making things yourself. Me and my sis often have a night in with a curry, wine and cake for around a tenner when DP is working away.
Sometimes i like to put DD to bed early and make a real effort cooking something we haven't tried before, we have wine and a nice dessert, then i turn off the lights, light loads of candles and we snuggle under a blanket and watch a dvd - instead of renting them we're started either borrwing from friends or digging out something we haven't watched in ages, last weekend we watched The Lakes (bbc drama series) - brilliant and free cos it was lurking at the back of the shelf!

it's ages since i bought soft drinks in a pub. i always thought they were almost as expensive as pints of lager, so i thought it better value for money to just get drunk instead.
nowadays, i tend to suffer from 3 day hangovers, so i'm thinking about going out and just drinking soft drinks. how much do they cost and how can i do it cheaply? will i get charged for tap water?
i want to have a social life, but i don't want the acting like a !!!!!! and suffering the hangovers that come with alcohol!0 -
for tap they'll charge you about 50p for use of the glass, and a bit of ice & lemon if you're lucky. They do have to cover costs, so it's fair enough.0

I get a load of my friends with their daughters and my daughter gets a load of her friends with their Mums, everyone brings a bottle and a snack, and we provide the games.............
