With mine if I hadn't known I was pregnant I would have thought I had a stomachs bug for 8 months and something seriously wrong with me cos of the movement. When my youngest moved it made me feel sick too

Even with a small baby, you're still going to put on at least a stone because of the increased womb size, amniotic fluid, increased blood volume etc. Plus that weight's concentrated in one area. To not be aware of that suggests that you're very relaxed about how your body usually feels and don't spend your time monitoring your physical condition.

My (large) friend weighed 1 stone less the day she went in to have her daughter than she had before becoming pregnant. My mother put on 3lb .. (that is a dinner in here!)..when having my sister. After sis arrived people were asking her whose baby it was!!! She now asks herself the same question lol. My daughter gained 4lb while pregnant and about 2 stone since having the implant after he arrived!!! So you aren't necessarily going to gain that much weight.

Well I'm not one of those symptomless types but had no major problems.

I just popped on to let PP know I put loads of weight on with the implant, that and turning into an evil dragon... It was like pmt all the time, huge mood swings.

I had it out after 6 months (as soon as they'd do it, and then only after I threatened to remove it myself!) And went from a size 12 to 18. If I'd had it in for the whole time I dread to think what size I'd be.

    Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I gain very little weight when pregnant - I actually lose weight in terms of "me"... I go totally off chocolate and a few other bad things, and lose so much appetite it balances out the pregnancy weight gain. Midwife reckons quite a few of her plus-size women come out of pregnancy thinner or exactly the same as when they went in - I can go straight back into my pre-pregnancy jeans once my uterus deflates back to normal.

I can't imagine not knowing. I am pregnant at the moment and boy have I known about it but I've heard loads of stories about it happening so it must do.
My cousin never looked pregnant when she had a baby..she knew obviously as she missed periods but she never ever wore maternity clothes..literally just went from a size 6 to wearing a size up...and she was tiny to begin with so I guess it can happen! I was shocked when I saw her at a funeral and she was about 2 weeks from giving birth!

I had the implant in June 2011, bled on and off for 5 weeks then no periods since then, no period pains, lost weight and my hormones are all levelled out. Before I had it in my hormones were all over the place and my periods were awful :( dreading it having to come out in a year

My daughter just had hers out this week too, they've been fobbing her off for 4 months about removing it. She suggest removing it herself too lol.

My daughter had regular cycles before the implant/baby and had it put in when he was 6 weeks old and she was still bleeding and she still hasn't stopped and he is just over 10 months and she has been bleeding constantly. She has expanded from 8 to over 10 stone and at 5ft 1 that makes a massive difference and isn't very healthy.

Aw that must be awful - your daughter did the right thing getting it removed! For me it was the best decision, obviously at the beginning when I bled for 5 weeks I did wonder whether it was ever going to stop! Luckily it did and I'm very happy and would recommend it to people but obviously everyone's different. The only thing that annoys me is that if drs refuse to remove it - who are they to insist we keep something inside of us when we want it out?!
