You can cancel your Orange contract!

Towards the end of last year BT announced price rises (yet again!) and I was able to cancel my contract with them for free based on their Ts & Cs "to your detriment" clause. So I see no difference here.
The latest Orange rises are anything up to 500% (off peak calls up from 5p to 25p) and in one case infinite % voicmails from 0p to 25p.
For many years I've had a really sweet deal with Orange; I have a legacy contract from the days they would offer to match any other contract. In my case it was an old Virgin one which was pay as you go monthly in arrears. In other words I just paid for my calls once a month after I'd made them. No fees, no "minutes" just the calls and texts.
As a very low rate user this meant my monthly bill was often less then £1.00! Sadly this is now all going to change, so I've ordered a Giffgaff SIM where, even if I don't buy a package (goodybag), I will still only pay 10p per call and some calls will be cheaper than the old rates (eg 0800 etc are free, MMS down from 31p old rate to 16p, texts down from 10p old rate to 6p).
My only concern is coverage. My phone is virtually useless in my home village even with the dual coverage deal Orange did some time back with T-mobile. I wonder how good the Giffgaff coverage is in rural Oxfordshire.Sent from my abacus.0 -

You have misunderstood the thread, this isn't about OVP Virgin having a price increase, you have no contract with OVP Virgin and can cancel at any time, this is about contracts that are being increased by 3.3% whilst still in minimum term.====0 -
DamePeggy has forwarded the T&Cs to me in PDF format.
This is the relevant page
I'll upload the PDF file somewhere public and link it in here later this evening.====0 -
Just tried Dropbox, the file should be accessible from the following link.

Many thanks D123 - I'm just finishing off a better description of why I think anyone who signed up prior to November 2012, can cancel without a cancellation fee.0

For those who wish to you can find the email for Orange / EE's CEO at ceoemail dot com (still a newbie - can't post links).0

Oranges customer.services email is still not working - but their CEO's email address is - he's called Olaf Swantee.0

Recent reports say that for many emails sent to Oranges executives or the executive office email address without going through all Oranges Customer services first will simply tell you to go and use customer services before they will consider looking into these cases.0 -

Sorry, you are right. I should have made this more clear in my posts.
I did not contact the CEO directly - I first called customer servies - who gave me the customer.services email address (even though it was not working). They then gave me a postal address - which I sent a letter to - but I emailed a copy to the CEO at the same time - with a complaint about the non-functioning customer email address. To be honest I was quite surprised to get a reply from the Executive Office.
I'd recommend calling them first to ask for the cancellation on these terms and to ask for the address to send the written notice to. The write the letter and send a copy by email just to make sure it's not 'lost in the post'.0 -

Did you say you had a response from the Executive office? And were they helpful?0
