Orange Retention / New contract deals
Hi All
Has anybody recently upgraded to their existing Orange contract and if so what deals have you got?
My situation is:
2 accounts
Mine: £35 average spend - not upgraded in nearly 3 years
Wifey: £45-55 average spend - not upgraded in more than 2 years.
I know I can probably get a good free phone but I am after a very good deal on minutes and texts. Wifey is currently paying £25 for 500 minutes plus extra couple of quid for texts. We have been on Orange since 2000 - only had about 2 upgardes each in that time.
I am asking for advice as Orange frustrate me everytime I have rang in the past - dont seem to offer anything decent. ( I know it is the luck of who you get sometimes) I would rather stay with them though as signal is good and cant really be bothered with hassle of switching but if they annoy me enough I will do!
Any advice will be welcome. Will post my success or otherwise after I here back from anyone.
Thanks

Really depends on who you talk to, I found when I was with O2 when I spoke to their upgrade dept they were offering continuously poor offers, asked to disconnect and was put through to their retentions team who were allowed to offer better deals to keep customers.
Found the following two numbers for Orange Retentions:
07973 100150 0800 0797777
Give em a go!SLC: £13000+
Quidco: £131.24 (paid) + £0 (validated) = £131.24
Valued Opinions: £75 (paid) + £52.30 (received) + £4.50 (pending) = £131.80
StudentPanel: £250 -
Thanks for that. I think I will be going through disconnections to get a deal as that seems to be the only way they will give you anything worthwhile.0

Hi as I previously posted http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=247321
I Upgraded my contract with orange (6 months ago)
I Squezed them and got 800 mins on a Panther package £45.00
Sony K800i Free handset
heres the good bit bonus 2000 free cross network mins every month by going through retentions, told them i was going to Tmobile,
Then this week I upgraded the wifes contract (on the same account)
I found at first they were not wanting to give a great deal more than they are offering new customers, But when i mentioned what i was given 6 months ago,the customer services at orange said "I supose your looking for a simuler deal as that then" and put me trough to retentions
Result brand new Nokia 6300 (FREE HANDSET) pay for 600 mins £35.00 on a Dolhin package plus 2,000 free mins every month thats 2,600 every month plus unlimited free text messages.
Great for us as we use the Orange inclusive cross network mins to call abroad using Simplyfone,Global free etc.. via the 07744 numbers
So in total between both phones we pay £80.00 and get 5,400 mins per month (90 hrs) mostly used up in international calls
Down side had to sigh 18 month contracts
good luck !0 -
Yesterday I called 150 and went through the options to 'followup disconnections'. Spoke to a nice lady who offered a free W880i and £20 per month with 400 mins and some texts (I can't recall how many, at least 100 anyway). SHe said its a 18 months contract, I tried pushing for a 12 months but she said she can't do it.
I've got another 2 weeks before the contract ends, I'll wait and see.0 -
I managed to get a good retention deal out of them the second time I called. The first time the guy couldn't match an offer I had from Vodafone so I asked for my PAC number, called again a week after receiving it.
Now got a Sony W610i free, paying £15 a month for the Dolphin 30 tariff, although it's for 18mths - but that seems the norm.
Hope that helps0 -
Hi IRP2010,
I recently upgraded to 500 minutes, unlimited texts, magic no, free broadband on an 18 month contract for £20 p/m and a Nokia N95. They were also offering 700 mins 100 texts and unlimited calls to orange mobiles for the same price or 850 mins, 350 texts and unlimited calls to landlines for £25. They should be able to discount any regular 18 month contract by £15 for you - that seems to be the best they're offering at the moment.
Regards

Thanks for that - that 850 mins for £25 sounds about ok for the Mrs anyway. I was thinking about getting an N95 on her contract and selling this - buying another new phone and pocketing the difference. Not got round to ringing them yet but will let you all know how I get on.
Thanks to everyone else for the advice also - any more also welcome!!

Hi IRP,
That sounds a good idea - I had to pay £64.99 for the N95 too but considering what it's worth that's not bad. You can get it for free but they add £5 onto the contract which over the 18 months amounts to £90 so you're better off paying the £64.99 really. I'm sure you'd make a decent profit selling it on and could get another good phone without quite so many features for more than half the price.
Regards

I just got new deal in retentions:
800x-network min
unlimited text
£30
Nokia e65 (generic version, no orange software and no camera - which suits me fine as it should mean VOIP works etc)
free broadband
18 months0 -

Hi The Doomed,
Sounds like you finally got a good deal out of them :T
My friend got 1050 minutes, 350 texts, unlimited calls to Orange Mobiles, magic no, broadband for £30 but she's not too bothered about texts so if you need unlimited texts then taking a few hundred less mins for the same price sounds a good deal for you.
