    Hello!

They just gave me 950 anytime mins and unlimited texts for £45pm..

    hmmmm how does that sound?

    Hi Marginalone,

That's not even as good as the regular deals for new customers you can get online from orange.co.uk - you can get 1000 mins and unlimited texts for £45 there. My friend got 1050 mins, 300 texts, magic number, free broadband and unlimited free calls to orange mobile for £30 p/m by upgrading through the retentions dept. Make sure you speak to retentions on 405 from your Orange handset as they should be offering you better than that if you're an existing customer (you should be able to get most of the regular deals discounted by £15.)

    Regards

    Michelle

return your upgrade. call retentions and reject it, they should send out a bag to return it via the post office.

If this does not arrive within 5 days fone them again... asap

Hi, it was just the tarrif upgrade and not a new handset..

Should I specifically ask for retentions>? They put me through to an offshore call centre..

If you didn't get a handset upgrade with it that makes it even less of a good deal - I would be expecting an even better deal than my friend got if there was no handset involved (she got a Sony Ericsson W880i for free too.) Yes you can specifically ask to be put through to retentions or simply go through to them by calling 405 from your Orange handset.

Finally made the call today. Luckily got through to someone with some sense!

They have offered me and the wife the same deal:

2500 Cross Network Minutes anytime etc
    unlimited texts
    FREE NOKIA N95

    £35 per month.

I have taken this deal as I am going to sell the N95's - hopefully pocketing about £600 - buy a new phone for each if us...(app £250) and pocketing the rest (£350). The free N95's make this a very good deal. Before my avg bill was just over £30 and my wifes £50 - this way we are almost guaranteed to not be over £35 each (will never use 2500 mins).

Thanks for everyones advice. I think it does jus depend on who you get through to and your history with them

Finally got sorted out today (I hope, anyway). Details of upgrade as follow:

    Nokia E65 - Free
    £30 a month
    18 month contract

    800 anytime / anynetwork mins
    1100 text
    Unlimited anytime landlines mins
Free broadband (Im with orange for bb anyway)

Basically its the £35 racoon package, with 1000 free text added and £5 discounted
  • The rentention deal I got the other month is not saving me money at all with bills at £60pm. Here is the breakdown of my latest bill:
Your Service Plans (VAT applicable) Panther 45 (18 month contract) : 10 Aug - 09 Sep 38.30 Chargeable Umltd Ev & Wk OW : 10 Aug - 09 Sep 4.26 Unlimited Anytime Text : 10 Aug - 09 Sep 0.00 Unlimited Orange Minutes : 10 Aug - 09 Sep 0.00 Additional services (VAT applicable) Free Premier Service : 10 Aug - 09 Sep 0.00 Call charges (VAT applicable) Amount this month - see itemisation for details 1.79 Data charges 0.00 Total exc. I was told that this would save me £$ but my bills are higher. The rententions team at orange tell me that Panther 45 is the best tarrif they can offer. Any advice would be good.

38.30 - your 900 X net mins your stuck with unless you move to a higher standard tariff and lose all your retention deal add ons

    but:-

    1.79 - disallowed allowance calls ?, use 0870.co.uk

5.00 Orange Care, you are a premier customer for free they look after you if you need a payg replacement ( see below ) - Orange care is very limited on its claims these days

4.26 for off peak usage Orange World, can you justify having this poor value bundle ? most people are at home next to a internet connection off peak, I couldnt ! ( thats why im on 3 - 5.00 a month for X-Series Sliver, 1GB data and 5000 outgoing skype call mins and free MSN/Yahoo messenger, with 750mins/150 texts all in for 20.00 per month, I have got mobile access to 18185.co.uk = texts @ 1p to most places in the world, a incoming 0800 number on VOIP via Fring & people call me free - costs me 4p a minute incoming with no monthly charge, and i preseve my 750 minutes if/when should I need too ) the data pricing is what forced me from Orange to 3

Total of 11.05 + VAT @ 17.5% really could be avoided if you really want to bring your bill down, and you will be getting the standard Panther @ 45.00 with all your lovely extras

Your Panther its not a great deal for my basic calls/texts usage, I was on Dolphin 35 gives you 600 mins & unlimited texts but if your usage is over 600 mins better to pay the Panther extra 10.00 for 300 minutes than get a massive bill on Dolphin ( not that i did with my Orange 2000 retention bolt on to Dolphin plan )

its all about researching your bills prior to calling retentions, dont expect the advisor to know how to save you money, they are there to save a customer leaving & make Orange ( or any other ) money !

marginalone cancel the things i noted above and your approx 13.00 up not down, Orange care will replace a handset within limited reasons and for 90.00 over your contract period you can buy a good Orange payg phone to see you through your 18 months should you need to, understand it was your error you lost/broke the phone then add 50% of your cash for that error to the 90.00 saved and there you have 140.00 for a phone should you need one rather than paying 5.00 per month out for something you may never use during the contract period, if you have a bad/careless history with phones maybe Orange Care is worth the 5.00 pm though.....its a balance
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)
  • I just called to check when my contract period ends. I dialled 150 and followed the options to the choice of 'considering leaving Orange'. It turns out my contract ends in 2 days time! When the chap from Orange asked why I wanted to know I just said I was preparing to see if I could get any better deals.

I'm currently on an 'O2 EQ' tariff getting 50 mins & 25 texts for £17 per month.

Straight away he offered 400 mins, 100 texts & new phone (Nokia, didn't say which one) for £13 per month. I wanted to stick with a Samsung phone so I asjed for the U600. For this the deal changed to £13 for 9 months, then £18 for 9 months.

I took it, as it's still cheaper overall, I get the new phone I wanted, and lots more inclusive minutes. :T

jesus christ ! just hit the jackpot !!!!!!

ok so i was getting to leave Orange 6 months early due to 07744 issue, spoke to retentions last week & said if you can offer me a great deal & sort out my B/B billing issues I will stay ( B/B billing me 19.99 instead of 5.00pm ), retentions gave me the number for Orange B/B head office to talk to high level complaints - they ineffect as a " converged mobile customer " had to pass it to the executive office on Fri, Exec office called yesterday twice to sort out billing issue, and again today to clarify all complete, called retentions back today and...........

same as current deal....Dolphin 35 plan 2550 mins, unlimited texts & free broadband ( or 5.00 pm unlimited )

    renew deal with

    a) free Nokia N95 35.00 per month

    or.....

    b) no handset with a 20.00 per month credit :D

    obviously you MSE'ers know which deal I took..........:rotfl: :T :j :rotfl:

2550mins/unlimited texts, unlimited broadband with free 01/02 & Orange mobile calls 20.00 per month ;)

sis will be now paying her own mobile bill @ 15.00pm & I get broadband @ 5.00

so im saving 35.00 per month & she still has the same priceplan :)
