In answer to the original question - yes!
Allow a combined body weight and luggage allowance and charge per kilo over this figure!

Perhaps with Ryanair, the staff could wander up and down the queue at the gate checking to see if a box would easily fit over you as they do with hand baggage? :)

I can just see them passing a big over peoples heads and if it gets stuck at any point you pay more.

for every extra 30 kgs, a typical airliner will burn about 1 kg extra of aviation fuel PER HOUR.

So, some disgusting fat body weighing in at 110 Kgs over an 8 hour flight will cost the airline around 8-9 quid more in aviation fuel than it otherwise would have done (compared to someone weighing 70kgs). And lets not forget we are all having to pay extra for the extra seat width regulatory requirements coming in because of mr and mrs american bubble butt like one too many cream pies.

Interesting information. The fuel cost in itself appears miniscule so it looks like the biggest cost to the airline would be a reduction in the maximum number of passengers permitted due to weight/space restrictions as opposed to the cost of the fuel itself.

    Interesting point....

I wonder if many over-weight frequent flyers would be spurred on to lose, for example, 5kg if that weight loss were to allow them to increase their baggage allowance by 25% before excess baggage charges become applicable?

I sat next to a man for 11 hours on a flight from Beijing to London who had the worst flatulence I have ever encountered.

He blew off constantly and it smelt like old cabbage and sulphur and literally made my eyes water.

I have never been so glad to get off an aeroplane.

Now if he was fat due to being on a pure Helium diet, this poses new problems.

His gassy nature would make him lighter and cheaper to fly ;)
