Tempted to buy GoTab 6 inch Android 4.0 Tablet with Google Play and 4GB Storage

Firstly Islandman, I'm no expert, my previous reply was simply based on my experience with my own Android phone and tablet.
Firstly, when you say an icon has been dumped, if you're referring to the icons on one of your home pages, then you're simply deleting a shortcut to the app, not the app itself. To delete the app, you have to go Settings > Apps, select the app in the right-hand column, and in the next screen, press on "Uninstall" which is located under the app's name.
You can access all your e-mail accounts via the "Email" app/programme. I've already got accounts set-up on my tablet, but press on the Email icon, press on the the 3 vertical dots at top right on the next screen, press the drop-down "Settings", and at top right on the next screen should be "ADD ACCOUNT". Press on that and it's a 'walk through' inputting the account details.
I have to admit that I've hardly used RedLaser, but it at least has scanned random items in the house, something which the previous app I tried usually failed miserably at!
Re the option to choose Browser or Chrome, you'll be getting that because you have the 2 options installed. If you downloaded a 3rd browser, you would get 3 options, so if as per my explanation above you choose to delete the Chrome app properly, you won't get the option/choice.
Hope that's all clear!
Yes it is and thanks. You know what, I wondered about those icons being taken to the top middle cross. I will now do as you say and remove them properly, so the chrome option won't appear.
I make a note of all these explanations of "how to do it" in everything I have, ie camera/video/printer/mobile/land line so I have my own reference library. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Regret?, well yes, I didn't buy a case for it and now they only have pink, so I'll pass on that. Took a template of tablet to WH Smith to see if any of their Kobo cases were suitable, but they cost £29.99 I think they said, by now I was having to be picked up of the floor (joke).
I don't seem to be able to find a case anywhere, can anyone help please? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
You will get a case off ebay. it might not be the exact sug fit like named tablets, but you will find something. The question is what kind of case do you want. If it's a fit and flip prolly not, but a pouch or zip case. Looking for the Go tab 6 case you get an "official" case http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181133549366 1 left, or a belkin one supposedly should fit, but in YELLOW

I can't remember if you went ahead with buying the thread title named tablet, and didn't want to scroll through the thread. So ignore if you bought a different one
Also buy a case in a shop on a street that doesn't have pound in it's name and you will be ripped off something rotten!0 -
Tes, I did buy the one I queried earlier and thus far, it suits my needs, I just wish my wifi would stretch upstairs. I daren't suggest spending much to improve it, nor do I want anything too technical to deal with. Oddly enough, I did manage to get an original Gotab case via ebay yesterday thanks. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Ask around with your friends (and have them ask their grown up kids too) if anyone has a spare router. Look for something like a belkin one, rather than a isp branded one aka sky etc, and for the moment trail a long network cable upstairs. Someone will help to tell you how to either create another wifi network upstairs, or extend the current one.
Then ask on freecycle or maybe watch out for special offers on the homeplugs to replace the trailing system. Trailing isn't ideal unless you can do it around room edges etc, or push under the carpet edge.0 -
So is the tablet any good ?0
