Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 10/05/2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well
Morning all
Can't believe I'm first, but have checked and can't find the daily anywhere. Please feel free to delete me if I've missed it
Lovely sunny day, so we're off to the car boot to bag some bargains, and then off to the allotment - I've got some more leeks to plant, so looks like we'll be living off leek & potato soup all winter :rotfl:
Hope everyone is OK, have a good day and :grouphug: to anyone needing one x

Good Morning Charlie's Mum - and all who will post later! I've been waiting for this thread since 5.00am as I have no idea how to start one!
Just wanted to say a huge thankyou for all the hugs and support I received yesterday - made me feel very cherished. The day continued to be fairly horrid, but today, although I slept very badly, I feel quieter, calmer and life goes on again. What a brilliant community you all are!Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -
good morning charlies mum and all who follow
its raining here again has been on and off all week so nothing much planned for today..
yesterday was mental though:eek:
we were taking the old fridge freezer out of the space in the kitchen and putting in the taller one thats been in the outside shed for months and ive wanted inside for months so firstly moved a wall unit from above that bit was fine secondly i said have you measured the space and see if it fits, oh it will be ok says he welllllllllllllll after much huffing and puffing and moaning and groaning and taking off of skirting boards getting mate round to help it finally goes into the space.. its looks real good in there but have i sufferedbloody men if he had only measured it he would have known about the tight fit but oh no he who knows everything know NOTHING lol
so today im trying to find places for things that was in the cupboard we have taken down now thats going to be fun as it was full of stuff ive been getting over the months from boots.. jeez ive got more stuff in there than the local chemists hee hee.. be all right if we get a migraine a cought chesty or dry. got more vitamins to sink a battle ship and not forgetting all the potions and lotions lol so going to make up a few baskets for people and mabey give some away as presents

morning!
quiet round these parts this weekend. not got much planned for today. Need to crack on with an essay for my course and will feed the washing machine from time to time while I do that. The washing pile is huge and the weather is awful so the tumble dryer will need to be used. will do stuff which we really need and will dry quickest and leave towels etc for a better drying day.
Need to think about finances too. we are lucky to not be in debt but with two children going to university in the next few years have just realised that they are not entitled to any bursaries. Need to work out a sensible plan to help them without taking the responsibility away from them, if you know what I mean. I want to help but not do it for them....have already talked to son about need to get a job when we get back from Florida.
anyway enough wittering....hope everyone has a healthy happy day.x x x0 -

Morning CharliesMum, beemuzed dogrose and jockettuk and all who follow.
beemuzed time is irrelevent, my Mum lost my brother at one day old, but never forgot him till the day she died over 50 years later, his birthday 9th April was never forgotten, and always affected her, though she was not one to show it properly, was not happy when my DS was due on 8th April, luckily and to her great relief he was 2 weeks early and fighting fit. I sometimes wonder what my childhood would have been like if I had had a brother only 15 months older than me, instead of one 8 years older as we are like chalk and cheese and not really close. But then again would I have been here if he had been OK. We will never know! She called him John quickly as she had to have him immediately christened, but always said she would have called him Neil. My brother's first born a son, called Neil, my DS Jonathan!
Glad you are feeling brigher today.
Just read yesterday's list as didnt even get chance to switch on yesterday, did't like the car ride, so that one is off the list, going to try the next model (size wise) down, offered another long test drive in it today, but when DH wakes up going to tell him we will do it after our hols, else I wont be ready to fly on Friday!
Congrats to Anniestar , (((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) to Oldmcdonald and Crazychick and anyone else in need or would just like one. Re the IBS I had it after my hysterectomy and found that Fybogel helped more than any tablets (I could never remember an hour before food to take them, only ever remembered when it was time to eat!). To anyone with real problems with the monthlies, it was the best thing I ever did, and saved a fortune in the process.:T :T
Today is to restore order to the side bedroom (junk/dump/pc room - had enough, its getting to me now (and I am the untidy one!) and pack most things for the holiday.
Went out for a meal last night, so wont be a big Sunday Dinner today, however, I did put a Creamy Rice Pudding in the SC yesterday morning (Double Quantity). I have had a SC for years, and my original one was a Tower, which came with a great receipe book which I still have, and use. Put Nutmeg on the top of course, and made it with skimmed milk and light Evaporated Milk, as DH has to have low fat everything (upsets his stomach he doesnt have a weight problem!). He adored it, his "tea" too starving to wait for his meal out, was two bowls. I mentioned something about freezing some for another day, but that was not an option, the rest was popped inthe fridge for today/tomorrow. It is so easy I have offered to show him how to do it for himself for another day.
Enough waffle, hope you are all fine.
Take care

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Good morning everyone! Bright and sunny, here, too, but don't think it's going to last, so quick cup of tea then out into the garden while we can.
Had a great day yesterday. Got more things planted, and dug our first potatoes :j :j :j They're in the polytunnel, so come early. They were delicious, and waxy (bit like Jersey Royal) but I've mislaid the ticket, so not sure which variety. Will need to find out as I'll definitely be growing them again. We have our first peas forming in the tunnel, too, and lots of strawberries forming in the garden.
Went out to some friends' house for supper. Delicious :T We'd normally walk back (about 2 miles) but were offered a lift. Wish I'd walked, really, as I have a slight *head* this morning. Sure that a blow in the garden will clear that, though.
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Hi all. Well dark and gloomy here and will probably rain soon; have been up since 4.30 and, even after a slightly restless night, I got straight down to clearing out my office! Doesn't look 'done' yet but I am feeling quite smug because I have binned or shredded a lot of rubbish and found some more books to sell on Amazon. Sold my first one yesterday and have another 'sale pending' apparently! That has spurred me on and I've been hunting through all my books - and, believe me, and much to DH's bewilderment, I have hundreds and hundreds! I just love books!
Going to prep the veggies for dinner which will be roast pork, roast pots, asparagus, runner beans and carrots. Pudding will be the bread-and-butter pud I will make this morning. DS1, DILtb and GCs will probably be round this afternoon but we will not be playing our usual footie in the garden because it will have rained by then. I found some old mail-order catalogues which the GCs can use for making their scrapbooks so we'll have an afternoon cutting out, I expect.
Didn't get much chance on yesterday's thread after lunch - don't know where the time went. Well, I do - I had a nap and made a start on the office. I am also going to file all the recipes I've printed off this week because that's another pile building up.
For those who needed such special (((hugs))) yesterday, I wanted to say something that has given me great comfort when a loved-one has passed away; someone told me this a long time ago and I think it's a lovely thought: they say you actually die twice; once when you pass away from this world and once when no-one remembers you any more. We never forget our loved-ones and we also talk about them to others so - even though my dear dad died thirty eight years ago, he hasn't had his second death yet. I hope this brings some comfort to those who need it.
Will drop in later.

:hello: Gooooood Morning fellow OS'ers
Setting aside an hour or two to type up more recipes for my recipe software; I knew it would be a long job, but it seems neverending at the moment. It'll be great to have everything in one database though.
The ususal uniform ironing pile needs to be done but it doesn't seem quite such a chore since I updated my mp3
((hugs)) for those who are hurting.
I'm doing an Online course on the HP website at the moment on Digital Scrapbooking and practising the lessons I've read so far. I think I'm going to really enjoy itAny other digital scrappers out there?
Still haven't seen a replacement car that's the right price/colour/style, so still looking. I want to find something before the end of this month when the insurance on this one is due. I'll know it when I see it, it's just the one's I've seen and really liked are out of my price range and I've not intentions of spending more than I've saved!
Have a lovely chill out Sunday everyone:wave:

Good morning everyone :hello:
My boys won yesterday :j :j :j :j :j I was listening to it online, so at least I felt some of the atmosphere. We're going to Twickenham next Sunday to see them in the European Cup Final. If they win next Sunday then I stand to get a teeny weeny bit of cash from a mini bet that I put on. Ok, so not very OS but nevermind.
I completed the latest ironing pile last night in front of Eurovision. However, with the things that are drying on the airer, I think I might have some more to do today!
I had a text from DH just before midnight last night. He hadn't been very well (!!!!) on this lads' weekend, so had gone to bed early. I've had another text to say that the friend that he was sharing a room with has got a "thumping headache" this morning. I have no sympathy other than with the residents of Blackpool who must HATE groups like the one that DH went with.
It's looking so miserable this morning. I'm going to scoot off now and get ready for when Tesco opens so I don't have to contend with too many people!
