hopefully kitchen in the land of the living by friday night...cant wait
No chance of my kitchen being ready yet! :( The men arrived this morning to find that the floor levelling compound was still wet. They were meant to lay the kitchen floor tiles today and the electrician was booked to come tomorrow. I had the tiles being delivered this morning.
The men were unable to do any work so left and said - ring when the tiles arrive - we will come back to carry them in. They had not been gone long when I got a phone call - so I had to get them back here - 3/4 ton of tiles to carry in the house. So now no progress on the kitchen and the electrician will not be here until Tuesday. :(
I now have a wet kitchen floor and a hall full of tiles.
The kitchen chap said to me as he left last night - we are on schedule - spoke too soon. :rotfl:
    Today.

    £9.50 this morning after moc

I'm really drawing a blank when it comes to making meals at the moment. I don't know what I want and neither does anyone else. They all just look at me expectantly like I can knock up a gourmet meal for them.

Sausage & mash & peas with onion gravy. No problem with them coming round for tea, really annoyed with DD fussing about the meal just because her friend didn't like it (and didn't eat it - just pushed it around the plate).

Note to self next DD can go to her friends house to eat instead of wasting my time, effort, food & money

Quick question does anybody use c*stc* for their bulk buy?

This struck a chord with me. DD had a friend round a few years back when they were both about 7. Friend's Mum had specifically asked me to buy smiley face potatoes as that's all her daughter ate, also said sausages were fine. Both got pushed around the plate with the girl proclaiming that "Mum said if I don't like it, I can ask for a jam sandwich". Nightmare child - never invited her again :p

Flo and Tessie - I sympathise with your lack of kitchen facilities. Went through the same about 18 months ago when we extended. The gas cooker was still plumbed in whilst the work was going on but was in the middle of the kitchen and covered in c**p everyday. Not good :(

Chicken curry, rice and naan for tea tonight (I will have quorn pieces in mine).

Day off tomorrow - long dog walk and errands to run. No peace for the wicked :rotfl:

This grocery challenge is not going well this month
Just been sorting out a purse full of receipts and have spent £2.99 in B&M for a packed of dishwasher tablets. £13.28 in Tesco and £78.84 in Aldi. I now have the sum of £5.16 for my next shop!!! Just can't seem to get on top of my spending. Well, it looks like I'll be going over again this month when I promised Hubby I would not have the accounts go over drawn this month.

So I have to do minimal damage over the next 12 days until it's payday :o

    3rd NSD here in a row. :D
I am hoping not to spend much as it is the last week of my 4 week GC and will be higher than March/April. :(
When - my new kitchen is finished and I can organise my cupboards and stock - I plan to write out a menu using existing items. I want to clear out all the old stuff before buying in new stock. Then the GC money I don't spend can go in the continuing renovations fund.

We use costco. We get the chicken breasts which are around £20, can make it into 6 meals or more if you stretch it, I usually split it into 3 piece portions for the freezer. The mince is 2.5kg for around £20 again. DH loves the sirloin steak which is usually 5 steaks for £20ish, only a rare treat lol. (Its all done by weight so its a pound or 2 +/-). They also do a big 4 pack of 4 pints of milk for £4.

I am so proud of my 1st attempt at making nann breads, i just have to share the photo

    2013-05-15181501_zps461e1249.jpg

I had 5, froze 2, and my children and I had 1 each. They were lovely!
I normally buy a pack of 2 for about 80p from either Lidl or Aldi, and consider that a bargain...but those 5 that i made cost pennies (i guess about 10p, probably even less) and tasted so much nicer due to being fresh and HM :D

so, amount saved- 70p (every little helps!).

Frittata and salad for tea ( plus two for the freezer). Not on the repeat list. Too much like quiche/omelette for me.

i suppose we coulc have had a few takeaways but it would have cost a lot for 5 night been unhealthy and i thought i could spend the money on bits for my new kitchen....so sarnies it is

i did a shop in aldi on sunday to keep us going and will go again next monday...cant wait to cook something hot...hope everyone is going strong

Oh love I feel for you, when the contractors ripped out my kitchen I was told I would be without the cooker for 2 days sothought no problem, the chippy is only round the corner but it turned out to be 10 days so I put the microwave and kettle in the sitting room and the toaster and slow cooker in the bedroom ( I live in a tiny bungalow) wasnt ideal but I did manage to get hot meals and not spend a fortune on take aways. Hope your kitchen is sorted as soon as possible for you
