Phones 4 U and O2 deals?

Hi folks, I’m currently thinking about getting a new phone and looking for the best deal that will suit my needs. At the moment, I have an iPhone 4S (which I own outright). I’m currently on a £50p/mo contract with TMobile. I’ve been with TMobile for years now (upwards of 10+) and I’d like to move to O2 due to better coverage, but also I’d like to my number.

I’m currently looking at the new Blackberry and also iPhone 5 as an option on handset, and willing to be flexible on O2 contracts - see what is available so to speak.
I went into the Phones4U to have a quick chat about my options with a sales person. When I mentioned O2 however, the atmosphere was a little strange. From that point on I couldn’t seem to get a straight-forward answer from them regarding O2 contracts, but infact, I was being pushed towards Orange and other possible contracts - regardless of what I said AND keeping my number! So this has led me to think - what’s the deal with O2 and P4U right now?
Does anyone know any further details about their relationship and why the sales staff were so cagey?

Phones4U don't offer new O2 pay monthly contracts anymore.

  • This is just how Phones 4 U operate. Very underhand and don't give you the straight details. Only know this as I have gone through a very similar experience in the last few months.

They will pressure you into getting something they can offer, as opposed to something they can't (but won't tell you about it) as it is that kind of sales environment. Really disingenuous if you ask me.

You can get £100 cashback if you order an iPhone5 online on O2 via Quidco.

Just get a pac from T Mobile in the last month of your contract to retain your number.

Oh my God I hope that plan includes a personal assistant to hold the phone to your ear!!

The OP owns his/her iphone outright, so what is the £50 per month for?

No one pays £50 per month just for minutes, texts and data.

Shiny new phone syndrome, I am afraid.

So what is wrong with the iPhone 4S?

Unless you have a pressing need to use an almost nonexistent LTE 4G service, the iPhone 5 doesn't offer any real material benefits over the 4S.

You could get a sim only deal with unlimited data and either many thousand, or even unlimited texts and minutes from T-Mobile or Three for between £11 and £15 per month.
