    Morning all,

Compbunny - welcome! I can be really bad with putting outfits together so will try and plan a bit ahead so will have a couple of pairs of pants and tops washed and on top of the drawers so if I'm dashing round before work in the morning I can just grab and go but won't end up realising halfway through my morning at work that they have a stain down them (sadly that has happened :o). As his missus says if you don't like trailing round clothes shops you could try getting things delivered. I also quite like some of the supermarket clothes departments, they're more laid back and you can wander round without being jumped on by pushy sales assistants or irritated by giggly teenage girls (god, I sound about 70 don't I? :rotfl:) Also, just a minor point but if you're taking a multi-vit already check if that already has your daily 'amount' of vits c and d, the body can only process so much and anything over that just gets wasted so if you already have enough from the multi-vit could probably save some money on the others. I take a vit c and iron one as I tend to have a rubbish immune system.
Sorry, wee bit of a ramble there! :o

Rummer - welcome back :jthink the making time for yourself each day is a great plan. Clothes-wise maybe think about buying just a few items as you lose weight (supermarkets or charity shops maybe) as think you'll maybe feel better to have a few nice, well fitting clothes at each stage? Am sure you will be back in the old clothes soon though x

LL - go you, sounds like a very productive day :D I must tackle some of my paperwork, did throw a load out at weekend but the 'keeping' stuff just got thrown in a pile.

Anyway, rather lazy evening yesterday I must admit. Finished off a bit of photo work but then was just watching some tv I'd downloaded. I'm rather late to getting round to this but have been watching the Sherlock tv series and am really enjoying it - very long episodes though so that's half my night gone :rotfl:Slept a bit better last night at least, am supposed to be going to a meet up group tonight so will see if I feel up for that later. Really need to get back to some writing work though!
Hope everyone is having a good day x

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Morning all,

Compbunny- I've been using the garnier bb cream in light, it's a touch darker than my skin is with it being winter but once I get a bit of sun on my face it's an almost perfect match. In winter I mix it with a bit of moisturiser just to make it lighter.

Still trying to drink 1.5 litres of water (well squash) but peaking at about 1l a day at the mo. Hubby has decided he's only eating bread once a day (he's sulking as he's put on 7lbs in a month when he's trying to lose weight!) so am joining him with this. Will be much easier once the weather's warmer and we can have salads for lunch.

I haven't lost any weight over the past month but I haven't gaiined either. I still think we need to up the exercise...well, do some exercise!

    Just a quickie ....

I saw a post on a fitness/diet forum this morning and thought it was a great thing to do.

It said "just for today I will...."
You commit to doing something just for today - no pressure, no long term commitment, no stressing about can I keep it up. The thinking is that if you try it without a massive long term goal you may just find you like it/can do it/will stick to it.

    So, here's mine...
Just for today I will eat properly and do something positive for myself (a run and a good walk later with the dog):):)

    Anyone else?

PS Run done, hard but felt good afterwards

Lizzie - I know what you mean - I kept waking up at exactly 5 to 7 for most of last week. No idea why that time but think it must be because of the lighter mornings. Mind you this morning I didn't want to wake up at all :rotfl:
Consider this a wee kick - get back on the business plan! :D It is scary but most worthwhile things are (trust me I know!), make a list of things you can do this week, eg think of a business name (if you haven't already), work out a pricing plan, design some flyers, think of places you can put them (eg for the dog walking could be local vets, pet shops, corner shops, post offices) where could you put online adverts - what websites would be good, could you look at local papers, community magazine, church magazines etc.
Sorry for the slight going on there. I like things like that - I'd probably have about 20 businesses going if I could only find the time :rotfl:so feel free to poke me if you think I could help with anything. I do know what you mean on the lack of confidence - it worried me a lot at the start of the photography thing, especially with weddings, but I've kind of realised that it can be a good thing as long as you can push past it. You worry because you care about doing a good job - which will mean you'll try harder than people who don't give it a second thought and people do appreciate that x
Consider myself kicked:o. Thankyou I know I can do it it's just that first step. Have got a free afternoon tomorrow so am going to get back on it then. I have started a website so I'll get on and fnish it then. :)
    Good morning all

Well it was truly fab to come down and not see that pile of paperwork sat on the dining room table accusing me:rotfl:

Just got to tackle the ironing now.......

Anyway just wanted to give Lizzie a little kick up the derriere. Time to stop procrastinating. Spring is upon us and folk are spring-cleaning their houses and nesting.

Strike whilst the iron is hot......

Come on girl you can do this. Pod had some brilliant ideas for your marketing which I would second.

And...I would say again don't forget the "oldies" and disabled people. You could offer them discounts. Once you've done a couple word will get out and you will get the recommendations and repeat business, which you need to help your enterprise grow.

My plumber started small - I was one his first customers apparently. He now has a thriving business and has taken on staff.
Get this - he has never once paid for an advertisement - it's all repeat business and personal recommendation.

Just pluck up courage Lizzie and go for it. Remember the old Nike thing "Just Do It".

What's the worst that can happen - you fail. Not the end of civilisation as we know it is it. You fail - you pick yourself up and try something else.

The point is I seriously don't think you will fail. Just do a good job at a fair price and your business will flourish.

You don't need a load of fancy tools and expensive kit, just a stepladder, brushes and rollers etc. One thing I would advise - buy yourself some proper overalls - they cost very little and look really professional.

They are a legitimate business expense so are tax deductible. You can even have your name and logo printed on them - very cheap once the template has been done.

It really looks the business and sends out the right message.

Alternatively you could really highlight the "girl" aspect of your enterprise and go for bright pink T-shirts or sweatshirts and plain jeans or trousers. Personally I don't think that jeans are good work wear because they tend not to stretch and move with the body. "Builder's Bum" is not a good look.

Keep your overheads and costs low and your prices keen and fair and you should be ok.

Thanks :o just having a little wobble- lots of good tips here though so no more excuses.:o

WW - Re painting and burning calories. I once decorated my dining room and lost 3lbs in a week. This was despite grabbing a kit kat every time I stopped for a drink. :rotfl:

Right time to get fabbing and start the day. The sun is streaming through the window - unfortunately it's deceptive - it's still very cold here.

    Have a good day everyone.

Had DD1 on the phone this morning - she still hasn't found a job and has tried to ignore bills and now they've caught up with her I've given her a talking to and told her it needs to be dealt with asap. She was after borrowing money but I really can't afford to do it at all now not even the odd £20 - we just don't have it. I feel guilty on the one hand but on the other think it's time for some tough love - thing is if she got so low that she did anything silly, I'd never forgive myself.

Forgot to say welcome to the newbies:hello:
I'm another one who doesn't really enjoy trudging round the shops. Have been having a bit of a look online for something for the wedding, I've got a while yet so it's not so urgent and don't want to get it to early in case I manage to lose a bit more weight -say she whose just downed a whole chocolate bar. :o:EasterBun:rotfl::rotfl:
Anyway back on the wagon now. :D

Need to get my hair dyed again too.

    See you all later. x

    Can I join please?

I've let myself go over the last year and a half...I was very high maintenance if I do say so myself! Ive put on about 5 stone, haven't dyed my hair in 17 months  but decided to do something about it!

I have small pattern alopaecia and my hair extensions (they cover the bald spots) arrived this morning and I felt so bloody relieved - I haven't worn my hair down in months.

I have no skincare routine, and don't even know where to start with make-up and clothes. I think I'm what my mum would call a "gok case"!

I really need the motivation to look after myself a bit better :)

Please may I join ladies ...? I'm working lots and anytime off I do have I'm exhausted so do very little to look after myself. I also jump about in hoodies n jeans n trainers as it easy and I don't need to think about it. I am tall n slim therefore need to make better use of myself for want of a better phrase. I'm paying of a credit card and that will be done in about 6 months so can purchase some new clothes hopefully then:) in the meantime need to make the most of myself and I'm trying to eat out freezer etc so not eating the best either ... And where do I start with motivation to actually get to the gym .....,

    Hi All,

It's another beautiful sunny day here which is so good for the spirits. I've been at work all day but still found time to go for a 10K run before breakfast (I didn't start work till 11 so it wasn't as good as it sounds!).
I also walked to and from work both yesterday and today rather than bike so can add 15K to my challenge total.

I take extra vitamins - a Multivitamin, Vitamin D, Glucosamine and a Cod liver oil capsule every day, even though I feel I eat healthily. One thing I do though is to make sure my 5 a day are mostly vegetables and not fruit as I feel all that sugar in fruit can't be good for you.

Hope you have all had a lovely day.

  • Welcome DomRavioli and sweetcheeks33 we are all a friendly bunch!

Start with little steps that are easy to fit in your lifestyle and go from there until they become a habit. Could be daily moisturising, squirt of perfume, hint of mascara/lipstick or wearing a bright top etc.. Keep it simple and build on it.

    Eh xx

Thank you ever hopeful, I used to be better but I have just let things slip so hopefully I will bring them back again. Have started to spray perfume in the mornings as a wee bit of a start!! I maybe go through my wardrobe at the weekend and clear it out a little too....
