*shy hi to everyone*
I'd like to join in this thread...
I have CFS/ME and find it SO difficult to allocate energy to looking good - or as good as I can more like! On some days in the morning I just about manage to chuck on a "floor" fleece and jeans, let alone put together a proper outfit! I do wear mascara every day as a priority though.
My skin looks as exhausted as I feel and I just don't know what to do about it...I also suffer from acne to the point they tried me on Roaccutane - its not so bad these days but still makes me look generally unkempt! I use clearasil every day and african black soap.
My hair gets greasy the day after it has been washed so have to use energy on washing it every other day.
I use an epilator on my legs once a week if I'm up to it, doesn't seem to work too well but can't afford to go to a salon and don't have the energy!
Most of my clothes are cheap and don't suit me - I'm too shy and tired to go round town trying things on!
On the plus side, I am lucky enough to be slim and tall. I swear my face looks like a mans face though unfortunately!
Can anyone suggest some easy baby steps towards the journey to fabulous?GC2012: Nov £130.52/£125

It didn't work for me (made my dark hair look like I'd put talc on it)when I trialled it for a bzz campaign but have you thought about using a dry shampoo spray, it might save you washing your hair so often.
Also, I'm not a big fan of trawling round shops trying on clothes. Have you thought about catalogue shopping or even using a store that does a delivery service either to your house or for in store pick up? I do this with Matalano and Debs, then you can try on in your own home when you feel like it.
I don't have acne so I'm just guessing in the dark here but have you tried either a tinted moisturiser or a bb cream to give your face a bit of a glow/a splash of colour. Not as heavy as make-up. I tend to use a bb cream and a bit of face powder.

Thanks Missus
I do have a can of dry shampoo - unfortunately it doesn't seem to be that effective for me. Think its a hormonal thing, my mother always had problems with hair getting greasy too!
Its a good idea about ordering online. I always worry about the hassle of returning things, but to ditch the frump we have to take risks and give things a go hey?!
BB cream - I looooove BB cream! So easy to put on! I use the korean ones because they are pale, Skin79 pink for if my skin isn't too bad (hardly any coverage, just makes me look less dead somehow!) and Holika Holika clearing for when I have terrible skin....unfortunately, they have changed the formula and it breaks me out and the shade is darker! Which BB do you use?GC2012: Nov £130.52/£125

Evening All,
Fab to see some newbies, I've been lurking in the background still got a cold with a cough that's worse first thing and at night so not sleeping great.
Done nothing but eat today must be getting to PMT time again. I will eat healthy tomorrow, I have another visit to the Dr's for blood tests so will have time to pack up healthy lunch and snacks.
Starting knitting a baby blanket as a gift just to keep me busy and stop me eating in evenings needs to be finished this month.
Hope everyone well.

Hello! Another newbie here who would like to join you if I may.
Winter has really taken its toll on how I look and feel so I need to buck up my ideas and get a bit more glammed up. My first goal is to get rid of the winter weight I've put on before I go and buy any summer clothes. If I cut out junk food and alcohol that'll go most if the way I think.
I also need to get back into running - I only ever did 5km at a time but it made me feel good.
The third area is to focus a bit more on my home environment - the clutter and disorganisation makes me very frustrated so I need to get that sorted as I think it'll have a knock on effect on other areas of my life.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all a bit better.Seriously money saving0 -
 I would really like to come back and join you all
I have not been keeping up with the thread because I have not been in the right frame of mind for fabbing however I have realised that I need to take care of myself more so I am back and ready to be fabulous
Over the last few days I have cut out some of the rubbish I have been eating and I have tentatively started to exercise. Been taking vitamins for a while but I am yet to see any obvious benefits although maybe they are doing something?
Clothes wise I am not going to be buying anything until I have lost a bit of weight and if I do manage to shift a stone or two then I have loads of my old clothes that I am keen to wear again.
I need to start the skin care regime again too as I am looking tired and my complexion would benefit from a bot of TLC.
Everyday I am also going to make the time to do something that I love, knitting, reading, gardening or whatever takes my fancyTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Just a quickie to say Hi to all the newbies. Welcome ladies.:D
Well I've had a cracking day, went to the shops bright and early and stocked up on healthy stuff.:rotfl:
Then - wait for it - I rattled through that mountain of paperwork that has been glaring at me for weeks. Well I say rattled - it actually took most of the day.
But hey, it's done:D:
Really it was so silly to procrastinate for all these weeks. Now that it is done I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
I even picked up the phone and booked my smear test for Thursday:eek:
Still when it's done it's done then I can put it out of my mind for another 3 years.
Tomorrow the new healthy eating plan begins and I have a physio session booked for the morning before I go to see OH.
One of his old friends from way back when is coming to see him so I will meet her at the station, take her to visit OH and then we will go somewhere nice to eat.
So a nice day planned for tomorrow.0 -
Hello to all of the new fabbers! And welcome back Rummer!:hello:
Its a beautiful but cold day here, not a cloud in the sky but a hard frost. The sort of day that makes you want to get out and about.
LL - I know what you mean about paperwork, the thought of it is always worse than the reality, I'm guilty of putting it off too. Hope you have a nice day today.
Not sure what today will bring yet - I'm taking the dog to the park in a minute and then will force myself to go for a run - have a feeling it will be very hard work as I haven't been for a good while now. Might as well make the most of the dry weather whilst its here.
I may then pop to Ikea for a look at the bedroom furniture - have everything I need to get cracking now, just need to do it. How many calories do you burn painting? Tons hopefully!
The new diet regime is still on track - sometimes you're just in the right frame of mind to do it. The switch has flicked in my head again and I'm actually raring to go. I want to lose 5lbs and then reassess what I look and feel like - maybe a few more lbs after that but it has to be sustainable. I've kept the vast majority of the weight I lost last year off so I know I can do it, I just need to do it!
I feel less bloated already after 3 days of being good foodwise and a bit more active so lets hope it carries on.
Right, better get on with the day.....0 -
Good morning all
Well it was truly fab to come down and not see that pile of paperwork sat on the dining room table accusing me:rotfl:
Just got to tackle the ironing now.......
Anyway just wanted to give Lizzie a little kick up the derriere. Time to stop procrastinating. Spring is upon us and folk are spring-cleaning their houses and nesting.
Strike whilst the iron is hot......
Come on girl you can do this. Pod had some brilliant ideas for your marketing which I would second.
And...I would say again don't forget the "oldies" and disabled people. You could offer them discounts. Once you've done a couple word will get out and you will get the recommendations and repeat business, which you need to help your enterprise grow.
My plumber started small - I was one his first customers apparently. He now has a thriving business and has taken on staff.
Get this - he has never once paid for an advertisement - it's all repeat business and personal recommendation.
Just pluck up courage Lizzie and go for it. Remember the old Nike thing "Just Do It".
What's the worst that can happen - you fail. Not the end of civilisation as we know it is it. You fail - you pick yourself up and try something else.
The point is I seriously don't think you will fail. Just do a good job at a fair price and your business will flourish.
You don't need a load of fancy tools and expensive kit, just a stepladder, brushes and rollers etc. One thing I would advise - buy yourself some proper overalls - they cost very little and look really professional.
They are a legitimate business expense so are tax deductible. You can even have your name and logo printed on them - very cheap once the template has been done.
It really looks the business and sends out the right message.
Alternatively you could really highlight the "girl" aspect of your enterprise and go for bright pink T-shirts or sweatshirts and plain jeans or trousers. Personally I don't think that jeans are good work wear because they tend not to stretch and move with the body. "Builder's Bum" is not a good look.
Keep your overheads and costs low and your prices keen and fair and you should be ok.
WW - Re painting and burning calories. I once decorated my dining room and lost 3lbs in a week. This was despite grabbing a kit kat every time I stopped for a drink. :rotfl:
Right time to get fabbing and start the day. The sun is streaming through the window - unfortunately it's deceptive - it's still very cold here.
Have a good day everyone.0
