You must be fairly small for 11st to be your highest ideal weight?

I do think that weight varies by more than just size - my dearly beloved is 6 ft 1, and has a slim build - he has a 40 inch chest, and takes 32 inch trousers, and is quite lean overall. But he is 12.5 stone, and says he has heavy bones. He also does quite a lot of cycling, as you do, so he's got quite muscle-y thighs and lower legs. (Query - calves? or calfs?)

I'm 167cm and for proper cycling my fighting weight should probably be more like 10st or even less!

It's calves I think, same as the cows. I don't know if there's a connection between those words.

I have a small framed piccie of a very young looking Mr S holding our baby daughter when she is just a few hours old. It makes my heart melt every time I see it. He looks enchanted.
    \.

My DD was the same. :rotfl:I remember being the first person to see her face and hold her and my DW saying what are we going to call her and me making what turned out to be the right decision (ie the one my DW would have wanted!).

My biggest memory was when I held her in my hand. I could practically feel my head being re-wired and I realised it was the equivalent of "love at first sight".

Unlike the lovely baby pics from nag and Lydia, dh's new niece is not a looker. In fact, quite astoundingly not. I am confident she will grow into her face, they often do......but reviewing pics the sent of her in clothes I sent I think cute and quirky' suits her better than 'pretty pretty' clothes. I feel somehow guilty over this.
I'll never forget one smug and proud set of parents showing a group of us their new baby ... it looked JUST like Orville the Duck. It was huge and fat and round and had the head/face of Orville!

That sounds about right. I have a friend who is one of the better cyclists in the UK and competes at a high level in road races (AIUI he's ranked within the top 200 nationally). He's 6 ft tall and about 11 stone. This is natural and he must have a phenomenal metabolic rate as he eats like a horse. He changed sports later in age (well in sports terms anyway, he certainly isn't old) and I think he would have reached a higher level still if he'd always cycled.

Technically, correctly, it is calves. However, as English evolves over time and usage, the word calfs has been seen to be creeping into standard usage. So calves is correct .... ask in 100 years' time and calfs might be the correct answer.

    :)

Wonder if there'll be less or fewer of them by then? :P

I think vicars are defrocked, aren't they?

    Barristers are disbarred.

Solicitors are struck off the rolls.
I worked alongside a "right posh bloke" about 15 years ago - he'd wear plus fours to work sometimes ..... bit of a tw4t really. He said his daughter had been rusticated from Cambridge. I'd never heard the term before, but that's how you're expelled from Uni apparently.

About 40 years ago we were going somewhere in the car and were waiting at a junction in the small fenland town where JB was living. My dad looked in his mirror and said "JB's behind us" - and he was. In a silver Jaguar I think it was.
