The well was under our house.....we got rid.
There was a pond in the back garden in the 18th century that was a stream in the 1960s and 1970s. The stream went through the back garden and into the yard and into the front garden.0 -
Going to catch up in a minute....another nightmare week with youngest but at least he ended the week a little happier than he started it, doctors on Monday, so hoping for something there.
Middle son spent yesterday at a studio for practice with his new band, it went well but they had an absolute nightmare getting there because a bloke was protesting on the top of the station they were going to and all the trains were cancelled....all blooming day!

All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Doctors? Did he hurt himself again?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

We have enough to have given the dogs some water, the cats some and to keep the horses going for at least the morning in this weather. After that I'm edgey.
Can the dogs/cats/horses drink cake water?
Hope they get your mains water back on soon. If they don't, the water company should start setting you up with alternative water until the main can be repaired, I think. In 2007 it took them a day or two to arrange alternative water supplies for the affected areas of Gloucestershire (free bottled water for drinking and bowsers for water for all other purposes). I know it's phenomenally unlikely that it will ever happen to me again, but I still keep 2 days' supply of bottled water in the garage just in case. It was a very weird feeling to have no access to clean water - nothing coming out of the taps, and all shops completely sold out of bottled water.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Has youngest broken up from school yet? I imagine the final week will have been full of non-standard activities that must have been hard for him. Are the school being any more helpful now? What are the prospects looking like for how the school will provide for his needs next term?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? There have been a few minor hurties (is that even a word?) but this is more for his mental state and anxiety levels plus hopefully a referral to CAMHS.We made it! They don't break up until next Tuesday. It has been a mix of work and non standard stuff which he DOES find difficult, as well as the not knowing what to expect in a particular lesson. Alongside that, quite a few controlled assessments in English, with a teacher he doesn't like (she doesn't 'get' him and consequently, says he has refused help when she hasn't even offered it to him or turned the help away as she doesn't believe there is anything wrong).
We countered that by going into the school on Tuesday stating exactly the help he wanted/needed for that days CA, so the teacher would have no say in it...the help was provided and he coped so much better with it.
I know it is not the right thing to 'demand' a certain kind of help but to be honest, I was shattered, youngest was shattered too as he had been completely unable to sleep (and ergo, so was I) the night before and after many hours of discussion with him in an attempt to get him to sleep or at least calm down and chill out, it was what he came up with...a minor breakthrough in itself.
As for next term, they have allowed him to have his timetable early so he will know where he is and who he has in advance...and he is happy with the selection of teachers for his subjects, apart from English as they don't yet know the teacher for that...hope it is not the current one!We made it! Not so much a posh alert for the boys....worked out at £6 each for four hours of practice in a professional setting albeit in the centre of a rather grotty town.We made it! i needed that clear out but it also means I should stop spending any money from now0
