I bet the crux of the matter doesn't make it into the school lesson.

I have waded through all today's post, GDB I hope you are OK. Having a plane is posh. The other big topic, whilst including some interesting scientific information is also just plain dirty and it is the 'nice' ladies who made all the running.
Crude perhaps, but help ful and practical. Better by far to be dirty nice women than women who just run away from 'all that' or don't make sure its safe IMO.

Allthessss kids will have been off for weeks. Meant to ask him if he gets cheaper flights if he flies from airports like Manchester /Newcastle when local schools are still on term time.
DD school finished Wed 3rd of July, though she had finished up the Friday before as we were on holiday that week.
They get stuck into the next years work around 6 weeks before the end of term which seems to work really well.
If you are going to the Med or Europe then you can get a better deal and it's a bit quieter but I don't think it makes much difference for Dubai or other places.0 -
Our mortgage valuation just came back significantly less than we were expecting, and phenomenally less than the other valuation that was done. ( which we thought was ott) we feel its worth o. The open market not more than what we paid ATM, because though we have spent a lot o. It we have also de valued it in other ways for longer term benefit ( cutting down leylandi with the short term privacy impact for example) the bed to bath is also of course a huge factor, but we've decided to rip our bathroom out and probable put a temp guest room in there for the medium term, so technically same number of bedrooms.
Any structural improvement etc is offset by aesthetic detail lack of finish ATM, so we'd need a few months and some money to put floors down etc to see a 'sale vale' IMO. But a drive by cannot see that.
I think all that fluff is for us and not for property increase in value so don't expect it to make us a profit. Especially not how we are doing it, lol.
Still, bit concerned at the huge discrepancy. It's a six figure discrepancy but I think we stil have required equity for the mortgage we want.0 -

And in the end that is all that matters. All the talk on this board about house prices, whether it is a good investment etc seem more than a little pointless to me for a house that is where one lives. We bought our house as it provides the space we want in the location we want, we have altered it to our taste not on a £ spent versus possible return basis, we have not chosen fixtures and fittings based on resale vs cost but on what we like.
I also think it is very difficult for surveyors, we were recently got some agents round to do valuations when contemplating a remortgage and they differed by more than 10% on what was acheivable for a quick sale - not 6 figures but half way there.I think....0 -

Can you not shower? I thought it was just dripping?
Edit: That would be a real nuisance in this very hot weather. Showering is a great way to cool off.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Edit: Just went and measured the water, 400ml/3 minutes, or 8 litres an hour. It's been going 36 hours now.
Have you turned its electricity supply off at the mains? There's usually a switch outside the bathroom or a pull cord inside - like a light switch but with a little red light to tell you when the shower has electric supply. Even if it doesn't stop the water, it might make the electrocution-risk less scary.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Is that the output or a meter reading?

Pn,
I think that you were good enough not to trouble your LL at weekend incurring an emergency call out cost, but that it should have been dealt with very swiftly or at least you given a time today when it would be done early this week.
I always used to try and treat homes as if they were mine and remember ll were not miracle workers, so I might have let them have Sunday too, but I would have wanted it dealt with very early this week.
It's one of the 'bonuses' of renting rather than owning, that you are renting a while service.0
