I had the weirdest night's sleep last night. Does anyone know if it is nesting season? A huge bird tried to get in my bedroom window and nick the driftwood I have in a vase on the windowsill. I went all Tippi Hedren, who apparently had nightmares during filming of the birds. Thankfully I was in the spare room, so this did not disturb still recovering DH.
There was a documentary on BBC (2 or 3) last year about the making of The Birds. Think they showed it just before the Sienna Miller dramatisation of the 'making of'. If I remember correctly, Hitchcock kept lying throughout filming, so the terrified look in her eyes is genuine as e.g. she was told the birds would be fake, they would be kept away from her...0 -

OH is giving up on choosing between a merc convertable and the XF; now he has decided to replace the BMW5 with a newer one.
Problem is that the favoured colour is the colour he has at the moment, with a personalised number plate it won't look that different.
I've got an XF, and would be very funny what I changed it for.
I've got the same colour as your Nissan (if this is the same colour as the BMW5) with a private plate, and it looks lovely. The trick is to see what's on Autotrader with a private plate, if you're looking for similar models, to see how you feel about the looks.

Saw this on the BBC and thought of lir (it's a story about ancient horse DNA):

ETA: should probably rephrase that to say I thought lir would be interested, could sound a bit rude otherwise (sorry)...Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Thank you, and wouldn't have been offended. I would not have seen were it not for you,
DH and I just invented kiwi rugby, It would have worked better if I could run better ATM, but its DH and me against dog dog, with kiwi as the ball.
Surprisingly kiwi loved it, but dog dog loved it the best.
It's scary rough, and I only managed a few steps when ever I got kiwi.
Every time we tried to end the game he started inciting it again,:rotfl:
Mainly it was just DH running up and down the garden with kiwi over his shoulder laughing ( kiwi laughing, not DH, he was puffing) and dog dog leaping up at them. Big dog and I watched and laughed.0 -
Been away for a week in Blackpool of all places, with my mother of all people.
Honestly I felt like one of those sad old men who has no one but their mother and going on holiday to Blackpool with said mother is the highlight of their year.
It wasn't so bad in the end. Didn't have to cook, clean, wash anything for a week and was plied with lots of free booze. There was a nice waitress too who kept smiling at me, but it's kind of hard to flirt with your mother there.
Didn't want to go, but if I hadn't then my mum wouldn't have had a holiday, so I definitely count as a nice person.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

Believe it or not, there are companies already doing that.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I love going on holiday with my mother - she's a perfect holiday companion, interested in everything, but not clingy or demanding.
We first spent time abroad, just us, was when I was working in Poland, when I was 18 to 19. She came to stay for 10 days, and we stayed in Krakow and visited Gdansk, too. The summer between my first and second years at university, we went to Prague and Tallinn together for 8 days, and the following summer, to St. Petersburg and Tallinn. Just before I started pupillage, we spent 2.5 weeks in India, in Delhi, Agra, Varanasi and a place I can't spell beginning with K.
My Mama's also come with OH and me to Israel - she came the first time I went, in 1999. There were 4 of us - OH, his mother, me, and my mother. She's come with us 3 further times, too, and one of those my Dad joined us as well (those 3 times are since Isaac was born).
I'd be happy to go anywhere with my mother, and don't see it as at all embarrassing....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Both my parents offered to take me to hospital for my date this week.
I am thrilled to say I have managed to get a friend to take me.. The parent who lives with me is doing their absolute best (and very sweetest) making green jelly because I mentioned I'd be able to eat that. I officially relinquished control of my kitchen today. I meant one jelly. There are, DH tells me, now four in the fridge, and parent is still going.
The one who doesn't live with me is visiting me the day after wards. Was meant to take me, we'll, offered, but then double booked themselves, and i think things have turned out for the best.
That way every one feels happy that they have all done someone and been kind and done of us get pushed beyond comfort levels.
Sadly jelly freezes funky, and I will not eat jelly after its been made for too long (images of agar agar plates come to mind) so we're going to have a lot of green jelly to get rid of next week.0
